I remember being at my 2nd job at the Bait Shop here in Mn. (ex took me to the cleaners...) and watching it there. No one came in all night after that......

I remember reading that the mis-pronunciation was intentional since, in Arabic, the way the President said it was a curse.

well I still like my idea better.

We go in and lose American lives.
We most likely will win easily.
We MIGHT catch Saddam
We MIGHT have a replacement that is better
We MIGHT have a replacement that is WORSE.

or my idea...

watch saddam closely.
the minute one Kurd is killed, or one terror incident is linked to him, their 3 largest cites get NUKED.

I caught Tom Brokaw on a late night talk show last night and he "leaked out" that the reason we were on high alert was because "our GROUND troops are now in harms way .. THEY HAVE ADVANACED INSIDE OF IRAQ with helicoptors going over...." It's about to start!!

nothing can or should happen until between Feb 27 and March 6th when Iraq is totally dark.

Actually the lack of moon light is a benefit. We have the technology to see targets in the dark but the Iraqis lack the technology to aim at and shoot our bombers when there is no moonlight to see by.

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree. Saddam isn't going to take out a few Kurds next time. He knows he's toast right NOW and he hasn't attacked anyone in years (except for the human rights abuses in his own country which are horrendous but another story). If he does something again - it's going to be huge and could easily kill tens of thousands. Don't want to wait for that.

Moon? We don't need no stinking moon...it's time.

I still believe the new moon will not factor in that much, besides why telegraph our arrival. I know we have to achieve our objectives quick with the bombing, I was just heaving a little sarcasm into the mix.

Oh, donkey. I wasn't sure if dunkey was a word in Arabic that Rumsfeld was trying to convey. Donkey - like in ass. I can easily think of worse things to call OBL but perhaps State Dept. had this suggestion for cultural reasons.

Heck, if they're looking up at an air target, the moon will actually disable their sight !!

Think about it.............

Moon Shmoon. :)

Peach, the attack will depend on the moon..nothing can or should happen until between Feb 27 and March 6th when Iraq is totally dark.

this ain't like 91 when Iraqi main air defenses were still intact and their Air Force hadn't yet been decimated

I've also heard that we might wait until the haj is over...we wouldn't want to accidentally shoot down an airbus 300 full of religious pilgrams would we?

Wait! Isn't the airbus built by the frogs? Maybe we should take a few of them out after all.

I agree - the no moon theory isn't sound (IMO). Someone was responding to me they thought it would happen during the no moon phase. I disagreed then and disagree now. I think surprise is more important. Heck - if we can get away with it - start it in broad daylight.
