The President added a couple of words at the end. This transcript is NOT all that he said. To check my memory, I went to the live thread and several folks repeated it right after he said it. The end of the speech goes like this:
Saddam Hussein has made Iraq into a prison, a poison factory, and a torture chamber for patriots and dissidents. Saddam Hussein has the motive and the means and the recklessness and the hatred to threaten the American people. We will not wait. Saddam Hussein will be stopped.

It looks like the transcript was time-stamped for release at the time of the speech. Anyone else hear him say "We will not wait"?

Bush started a couple of minutes late, which is unusual for him. Maybe those words were being added at the last moment?
To: erk
That should just about do it...

And he may have added "we will not wait" at the very end. I put it in where I thought I heard him say it.
(Very bad of me to try to put words in the President's mouth! LOL)

Ok. I got it now. The "We will not wait" quote is higher up in the transcript. The tape of his remarks, complete with slamming door, can be found here:
C-SPAN tape. Sorry about the mix-up.

Did Bush just tell Saddam that his most secure means of communication is compromised?Possibly. Or maybe Bush just told Saddam that his corps of field officers has been compromised.
Remember, we have all of their phone numbers, and we get email from them. Maybe many of these field officers are on our side, and are simply letting us know what's going on.
To: hapy
he is not declaring war
