Powell did a superb job.
They, also, did a great job downplaying this speech. There were "smoking guns" throughout!
I don't know about anyone else but, after viewing the fastest 90 minutes of my life, I'm worn out!

But Biden, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, said "we're talking about a different stage. (Powell) has a tougher jury and there is a lot of skepticism that exists in the international community." there is a lot of skepticism brainlessness that exists in the international community.

He is absolutely correct! That is why we should have already attacked.

I watched it too. Powell made a most compelling case IMHO.

Shoot! Me at work. No television. Can't find a radio station that was playing Powell. I feel in slow-mo compared to you. I have to wait hours to see a live presentation of his talk. I have been reading posts for about an hour trying to keep up with what Powell was saying, etc.
you know of course that there are going to be many who still can't see the smoking gun. They are going to say, how do we know those photos, .......

Powell did a great job, but of course France is still saying 'wait'. After hearing Camaroon and France, I turned the radio off. Didn't need to hear Germany.

United States - with or without its allies - will forcibly disarm Iraq if it does not immediately comply with U.N. resolutions requiring it to rid itself of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. Bump

Ditto. I have been browsing from time to time when I get a free minute, but when about 100 posts every 5 minutes, I quickly got left behind. From what I understand, it was real convincing for those few who were on the fence. There will always be those anti-war folks who would shout 'give peace a chance' while Saddam himself is raping and killing their family members in front of their faces. From a little browsing over at DU, some are actually seeing the light, and getting flamed for it from all sides. I guess there is hope for some of them yet.

I keep remembering that old Japanese proverb about people being able to stand in front of a door and say, "what door?"
They know.

IMHO Powell did very well. Diane Fienstien made remarks immediately afterward on NBC. She all but said she is convinced, but still sits on the fence. Gosh, she makes me sick.

Have you seen the thread for the transcript on MSNBC? I've been reading what Powell said there. But it is long.

Be prepared to be amazed.
"you know of course that there are going to be many who still can't see the smoking gun. They are going to say, how do we know those photos, ......."
Take a trip over to DU. That's exactly what they are saying.

I am utterly disappointed. If that was the best that this administration can muster in order to justify an invasion that risks the lives and fortunes of this great country, then it becomes glaringly obvious that there simply isn't much there. North Korea has nukes and delivery systems, but we want dialogue with them. One can look around the world and see equally or even more dangerous regimes, but the fact is that they don't sit on the oil reserves that Iraq does. If a taped phone call of two idiots talking about clearing out a field of any ammo they could get in trouble for constitutes a clear and present threat to this nation, it's a sad day indeed. Long live the Republic.

This is a perfect example of a loss being a win for the anti-American socialists. When Clinton gets caught with his hand in the monica jar (sorry) or faking a need to bomb Iraq to distract from the, ahem, 'chocolate' all over his face, it corrupts the confidence and believability in anything our government does. It is like that emperor not wearing clothes thing, only those people no longer believe/trust when they are seeing that he is. And the rest of them just hate Bush/America and refuse see it.

"......North Korea has nukes and delivery systems, but we want dialogue with them. One can look around the world and see equally or even more dangerous regimes, but the fact is that they don't sit on the oil reserves that Iraq does......" North Korea has never used WMD on any other country, and has never used them on their own people. Iraq has used chemical weapons on both the Iranians during Iran-Iraq war, and has used them on the Iraqi Kurds. If I remember correctly from a post here on FR, there was one incident when Iraqs use of a chemical weapon killed many thousands instantly. There were pictures of the dead in the street following the attack.
These facts alone make Iraq a higher priority target.
