Ok- While we are waiting, I am about to expose a gaping hole in my knowledge- (Shield your eyes if you are bashful)-After doing some research on Adlai Stevenson, it has become obvious to me that he was eloquent, if not somewhat long-winded. What exact "moment" is everyone referring to. I looked through several online biographies and such, but must have missed it.
Thanks

That's sort of what I meant with a "yes/no" smoking gun. Different times. Completely different. Obviously I need a LOT MORE COFFEE. :-)

It might be 'good' today but your other observation couldn't possibly be true.

"ANd I suspect do not have the manpower etc to protect themselves from within; therefore, are playing timid."
Remember that Chirac is from the center right party in France. They want to at least appear relevant. But if the UN is shown to be totally irrelevant and NATO goes on without them, they won't have any international institutions on which to strut.

Yikes! Bill Kristol!
Shep, I can stomach. I have seen some interviews where he has ripped people apart. He may be goofy, but I think he is a good American.

Oh, no, Shepard Smith is doing the introductory commentary! I was so hoping Brit Hume would be handling this! Shephard Smith is not the persn to be doing this...totally unqualified liberal with an agenda, IMHO. He's the one that always calls Sean Hannity a right-wing extremist. We can only hope for the best here.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Adlai Stevenson, our ambassador, spoke to the Security Council. He was armed with photos of the missile installations taken from U-2 planes. The Soviet Ambassador had been denying such installations existed. Stevenson asked him for an answer to the photos, and the Soviet was silent. Stevenson said "Mr. Ambassador, I am prepared to wait here until hell freezes over for a response."
THAT is the Adlai Stevenson moment.

Powell is such a jerk on a myriad of issues. I think this is 90% of the sentiment on Free Republic and within conservative, patriotic circles. You may proudly place me in the other 10%. I may not always agree with him on issues, but he's a fine public servant and a key member of this Administration.

I rarely watch Shep. If it's not too much trouble, could you explain the magical policeman remark? Thanks.

Mara was gushing all over John Edwards when he announced his candidacy. BTW Chris Mathews is having Edwards on his show tomorrow night at NC Central, a predominately black college. Trolling for votes, you know.
