"Don't hurt us please, take whatever you want, we surrender!!

I doubt it. The modern French elite loathe Americans, like Clinton loathed the military. They will be petulant and have a tantrum.

The thing lost on the French though, is that they don't matter anymore, except to their bloated elitist egos.

The timing of this is not surprising. When Powell shows his this week he will show the Iraqi teams moving papers and materials from inspection sites prior to unannounced inspections. I said this last week: "Want to take a guess who is tipping off Saddam where inspectors are going?" I think by giving the inspectors certain intel we got a two-fer. Caught the Iraqis and a rat.

France has been over the line for some time now. They are about to be spanked.

On a personal note this is the 3rd thread today in which I, along with others have bashed the French.

A great day.

It is the simple pleasures in life that keep us going.

Let's not forget that the Ayatollah Khomeni was harbored by France until he returned to Iran for their revolution that overthrew the Shah, ushering in this, the latest age of Islamic militantcy in the first place.

"France is no longer the ally it once was," Perle said. And he went on to accuse French President Jacques Chirac of believing "deep in his soul that Saddam Hussein is preferable to any likely successor."

I LOVE this guy Perle! Take that, Chirac!

I enjoy France-bashing as much as anyone, but the statement "France is no longer the ally it once was," hardly justifies the headline.

Further, it comes from a private citizen, and it carries exactly the same weight as Jimmy Carter's suckup comments to Cuba.

Having said that, I agree with everything Perle said.

Richard Perle, a former assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan administration and now chairman of the Pentagon's Policy Advisory Board (from article)

You are talking a very powerful board with the ear of the SecDef Rumseld IMO! The French are in the process of walking the plank and sawing it off!

Time for contemporary French socialists to completely undo the victory of Charles Martel, and let France go "Muslim."

This may be a blessing in disguise.Rifts being created in the u.n.could help weaken it and hopefully cause its demise.

My guess is that the EU will develop its military power. Someday, it may even be dominant.

I think when the truth is made known, France won't be talking quite so tough.

I find it amusing that they are discussing three new aircraft carriers. A nation with an economy slighly smaller than Denmark, and no forgiegn policy to speak of aside from 'oppose America' seems to be on a poorly thought out track.

While I agree with Pearle regarding France, I wouldn't let the Germans off the hook nearly that easily. It would seem that Iraq's best and greatest ally is the adopted home of one Adolf Hitler.

Wow! Pretty strong statement! I wonder what the French reaction will be?

Their reaction will be swift and horrible. Even before the US invades Iraq, FR will be invaded by hordes of smelly French trolls whining about the cowboy in the White House.

And what's going to piss them off most of all is that they will have had to take this insult from a Jew. Bwahahaaa...
