CPAC Wrap up: FR Victory
Me | 2/3/2003 | Diotima

Posted on 02/03/2003 6:39:09 PM PST by diotima

CPAC 2003 was an unqualified success. Every member of the forum should be proud of the fabulous team of volunteers who spent the last four days working the CPAC event on behalf of Free Republic.

First and foremost, the ACU and CPAC staff were generous and accomodating. Ian Walters,Peter Cleary and the event staff extended every courtesy imaginable. I ask everyone in attendence at the event to write a thank you letter to the ACU and mention their hard work.

ACU
1007 Cameron Street
Alexandria, VA 22314

Second, Libertina and Firebrand did an outstanding job of managing the booth. Exit148, Badray, MAF, Dixie Sass, Taxman, abner, VOC, Interesting Times, cacique, Nick Danger, Pod, freethehostages, hellinahandcart, Constitution Day, bert, wismypresident and every one who helped run the booth: I can not thank you enough. (I haven't slept for awhile..I know I am leaving people out and I apologize in advance.)It was great to meet the people I have worked so closely with all this time.

Registered: It was great to meet you. (Reg=Harvey the invisible pookah)

RadioFR: I am so proud of RadioFR. The Shrew and The Glaswegian sat and interviewed an unbelievable amount of people. There were LINES of personalities waiting to be interviewed almost the entire time. These men did not even get up to eat their meals, they were so busy interviewing the likes of Mark Levin, Michelle Malkin, David Keene, David Horowitz, Grover Norquist and the *fabulous* Brent Bozell. Stay tuned for information regarding broadcast times.

Bob J: There would be no FR presence at CPAC if it weren't for Bob J. The FRN board and Bob have worked tirelessly this last year and a half to build relationships with the ACU, Townhall, and other organizations to be revealed in a star studded announcement coming soon. LOL. The FR CPAC booth is entirely funded by the FRN. Our warm reception by the other CPAC sponsors and the CPAC panelists is a testament to all FReepers and plenty of behind the scenes work. So, to Bob, I say thank you and to my fellow FRN Board and Executive Team members, I salute you.

Abner: A special thanks to you for keeping me grounded (if that is possible.) I'm typing this from my brand new Sony Vaio Laptop!!!!! (Gumby is going to sleep soon. Finally.)

I don't do very well at these prim and proper affairs in public. I prefer to take it to the streets when I can.

Aha! The elusive one returns.

Well, we could fake Terry's signature, but, uh, that would be wrong.

Anyway, here's a nice photo of McAwful on which to exercise your unique gifts...

Terry sez... "The drugs are taking effect now."

The booth invasion pic is precious. It shows a scared puppy.

I took that one.

Scared puppy? Yeesh.

I hope his demonic gaze didn't singe my retinas through the camera lens.

Did McAuliffe actually have his arm around you? I hope you took a shower and got a tetanus shot.

And to think... once, long ago, he was a wholesome creature much like you and me.

I especially hate it when he argues with himself.

This was our first CPAC, and we are already looking forward to the next one! The Free Republic booth looked great, and everyone who manned the booth did a fantastic job. I'm really sorry we missed the Terry McAwful appearance, though. Maybe next year!

Very nice spending time talking with you at the FR booth... We will do our best to attend the balloon rallies in Flemington, NJ and Goshen, CT this summer!

One thing has been a worry to me though. The little visit by T. McAwful. Why? It makes me nervous when any dim-ocrat takes too much interest in FR. They don't sanction any conservative organization getting too powerful. Look at the attack on Rush and FOX News. Believe me, they will try to find ways to shut us down.

Shutting Rush down didn't work so they got the idea to find a "liberal Rush." Their idea with Free Republic is to find a "liberal Free Republic." DU is managed by Democratic operatives. One of the reasons FR has been so successful is that it is not controlled by any party operatives. We don't have to toe the party line or defend the indefensible. Can you imagine what FR would have been like if we had to extol Trent Lott's leadership instead of being able to criticize his squishiness? And if we all had to defend his statement at Senator Thurmond's birthday party? We would all sound as intellectually and morally bankrupt as the Clintonistas who defended Clinton at every turn.

So let's watch the DNC spend their hard-stolen money funding a "liberal Free Republic" and watch all the laptops and cell phones and everything that isn't nailed down be stolen!

I know McAwful was there to copy FR for the Dems, but did anyone ask him why he was there and what did he say?

No, he just wants to copy us. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
