[history]
NEW YORK (AP) - For 17 years, the family of Jennifer Levin has learned to live without the beloved teen who was strangled in Central Park: missed birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. This Valentine's Day, the Levin family must endure a new form of agony: the release of Jennifer's killer.

I like the way things like this were handled in the old days.
You know: necktie party.

Oops. This is an excerpt.
That aside, the perp in the article will do it again. Real animal. We'll be hearing about it, then they ought to take that entire judicial system that released him and............ (you fill in the blank)

Hard to believe it's been 17 years. Definitely not enough time for that crime.

"Chambers, now 36, racked up an assortment of violations behind bars - heroin possession, assaulting a guard, weapon possession. His bids for parole were rejected five times, and he spent about a third of his time in solitary confinement."And this guy is being released from prison??

Maybe he'll move to Hollywierd and he'll do a reality show. I don't think he will last very long in New York.

**"I guess I could also give you the party line and say I have learned my lesson, I will never do this again," Chambers said. "But that's not how I feel at this moment." **
What? He feels that maybe he COULD do that again? Sheesh..he needs to be halted...and soon.
To: cake_crumb
He has zero remorse and they're letting him out. arghghg.

It's get-out-of-jail-free cards for anyone who raped or killed a defenseless young woman in Central Park!
Robert Chambers, come on down!
To: cake_crumb
At a 1995 parole hearing, Chambers expressed no remorse about the crime. "I guess I could also give you the party line and say I have learned my lesson, I will never do this again," Chambers said. "But that's not how I feel at this moment."
What's your problem, in '95 he seemed to be reformed... Another reason why I support the death penalty.
To: cake_crumb
He was sentenced to the maximum for manslaughter - 15 years.
He would have been eligible for release in 10 if he had kept his nose clean.
His other offenses added seven years to his jail time. If he had been a model prisoner he would have served half the time.
To: alisasny
Uhh, I rather he stayed in New York.

Billy Baldwin played the killer in the TV movie.
Steve Dunleavy of the NY Post did ALOT of articles about this and even had a cameo in the movie, it was major news in NYC when it happend.
To: hoosierskypilot
The penalty for murder in the Bible is Death. He should have died for his crime long ago. And since he seems to have no remorse for what he did, he will really be a danger to society now. Perhaps worse.
To: wideawake
Soon he'll be dead or back in prison. hope if he is returned to prison it won't be because he killed another person.
Him being daed sounds like the better of the two options.

Doesn't sound good. He regrets NOTHING ... . Expect to see him to kill again. Girls: DON'T DATE THIS LOSER!

If he had been a model prisoner he would have served half the time. The prosecutor, Linda Fairstein, remarked that Chambers was doing a lot more to help him stay behind bars than Fairstein ever could've done. All those violations he racked up in prison.
