A Few Of FR's Finest....Every Day....02-03-03 Homeschool Mama...the Exclusive Interview
dansangel; Billie

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

As a journalist dedicated to uncovering the truth, I had a duty to my loyal readers to crack the nutty exterior of homeschool mama. Reclusive and at times off-centered, she agreed to a telephone interview. I warn my readers: what you are about to read may be disturbing. Lock up the kids, wait for grandma to go to bed and put the dog outside. I present to you, raw and uncut;

homeschool mama: The Exclusive Inquisitional Interview

dansangel: Why don't you give us a little background information on yourself.

homeschool mama: I was born a poor black child....oops! Wrong movie!

I was born in Illinois and moved to southern California at age ten. I'm of Serbian descent. After attending college in So Cal and majoring in business, I worked in marketing and then got into catering purely by happenstance.

homeschool mama: "1974 prom -
which is amazing since I'm only 34....yeah, right!
(That's the "unknown prom date," by the way.)"

dansangel: Were you ever mentally stable enough to get married and start a family?

homeschool mama: I met my husband when we were both twelve. We didn't get together until we were twenty-eight at our ten-year high school reunion. We married at 30 and have been married for fourteen years, now. We have one child, a daughter, who is twelve years old and *such* a delight!

homeschool mama: "What a lovely couple, eh?"

homeschool mama: "That's more like it!
That's my husband, aka 'Fidgit.'"

homeschool mama: "Our daughter, aka 'psychogirl'
at 12 and 1/2 years old."

dansangel: The three of you make an, uh, *interesting* looking family...

homeschool mama: I'm 5' 2" tall, my husband is 6' 6" and our daughter is 5' 1". I'm doomed! She may grow to be taller than me, but she will always live in *fear* of me!

dansangel: So! I'll bet you two don't spend much time together!

homeschool mama: Yes, I actually *do* homeschool my daughter...and teach Composition/Literature to 7th grade homeschool girls...and lead a homeschool fellowship...and attend a million homeschool conferences a year. LOL....I'm a homeschool junkie AND a BushBot!

homeschool mama and Fidgit while dating

dansangel: A-HA! Bush-bot! Now we're getting somewhere. So, I supposed you're one of those vast right-wing conspiracy nut-cases that hangs out on, ugh, excuse me while I catch my breath - Free Republic? I can't believe I said those filthy words out loud...

homeschool mama: As a matter of fact, my favorite Free Republic Thread is "The Dose." I don't even remember how I *found* FR - but am so thankful to Jim Robinson for beginning this website.

dansangel: Yeah, I'd like to say something to him myself, but "Thanks" is not what I had in mind. Anyway, so your involvement, I hope, is strictly to sit at home and read that cesspool of right-wing ideology?

homeschool mama: I have been involved in two FReeps - one in Modesto (Condidit's Office) and one at the State Capital during the election fiasco.

dansangel: The only "fiasco" was that the wrong guy got elected....So, you've always been a, er, uh, conservative?

homeschool mama: I've been a lifelong conservative...(um, except for the "lost years" in my 20's)

homeschool mama today

dansangel: So! There's hope for you after all! Anything else you'd care to share?

homeschool mama: We enjoyed a family vacation along the coast this past autumn. Spending time together as a family is so awesome!

dansangel: Yeah, I'll bet. If you sent your daughter to government school, you could have some precious time to yourself...maybe check out a government-funded entitlement program or two.

homeschool mama: Recently we bought a retro trailer. We're excited to test it out once the rainy season is over. You may now refer to us as "Trailer Trash." Next year we may have enough money for teeth....

dansangel: I can see we're not going to get any further in this interview, so let's just call it a day....

homeschool mama: One final thing I'd like to share: Take time to count your blessings, as there are many. Take time to show your loved ones how much they mean to you. Take time.

The two most important people in
homeschool mama's life - Fidgit and psychogirl

Please join me in welcoming another of FR's Finest...

homeschool mama!

Well, I quit my job back in 9/2002, and removed two of my boys from public school~doing the homeschool thang. Some days they're worse than my boss. Other days, they wish for their public school teacher.

So far, one of the best decisions I've made.

May God bless you abundantly for your decision!

So much bias, socialism and downright *nonsense* in the government schools. Thank God you were able to take your boys away from that!

Hi meekie. Great to see you tonight! So...tell me...after taxes....can your dad buy another "durn muffler" again this year?????

LOL ! Howdy ! Yeah, he can get another muffler, lol !

My Dad, the good Democrat...I told him that he wouldn't get back as much as last year (even though his income, all from his AF retirement and SS was pretty much the same as last year), and he commented something about 'what about the tax cut?' (An obvious jab at President Bush). He actually said he expected to get less back this year, but I walked him through the difference in his tax situation since Mom passed away and thus his deductions/exemptions were lower and raised his tax liability.

Before we started, I told him that my experience was that the "Marriage penalty" was a myth because when you look at the tax liability of income levels and tax liabilities at those levels, 'single' filings are always higher...

Anyway, tis done now, signed and all. Now all he has to do is attach his withholding form to the 1040, fill out his return address and put postage on the envelope and he's rockin' and rollin'...

Thank you. I am thankful and grateful.

I was thinking the liberal thinkers and planners has to be applauding in secret to the state of our schools. I saw this image today:

and realized it has taken 4 decades for our schools and government to be in it's present state; and it's taking this presidency of George W Bush to restore many of the old landmarks that kept America on track. Thank God we're alive in this time to help him accomplish his vision and America's purpose.

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.
For example:

I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor's dog that barks all the time run to the end of his chain and gag himself.

If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

A penny saved is a government oversight.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat are really good friends.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

He who hesitates is probably right.

If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.

If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?

Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.

If Wal-Mart is lowering prices every day, how come nothing is free yet?

You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors .....but they all have to learn to live in the same box.

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.

Once over the hill, you pick up speed.*

I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.

I know God won't give me more than I can handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much.

You don't stop laughing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop laughing.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

We cannot change the direction of the wind... but we can adjust our sails.

If the shoe fits......buy it in every color (YES!)

Have an awesome day, and know that someone has thought about you today!

The secret of life is: There ain't no secret. And you don't get your money back.
