President Bush will address the nation from the Oval Office on the Columbia tragedy, after calling the Prime Minister of Israel to give his condolences.
There have already been mid level diplomatic exchanges of sorrow between the two nations.

Well, that's white of him, to make sure he includes US in there. Interesting we have to stand in line behind Sharon, but Political Correctness rules over all.Moron......Don't know what else to say.
To: Illbay
Big moron. I do not know what else to say either.
To: Illbay
Your obvious rage against Israel is more demeaning to the other six astronauts than Bush calling Israel first. You are a walking contradiction.
To: Illbay
This is not the time for nit-picking.

Glad to be in your company today.
I am on the space coast in Florida...local TV hosts are at a loss for words... but not tears or breaking voices. They have to cut away often.
This will be a very important event in our community and economy. Space center is open at no charge and many are gathering out of respect.

Illbay, you're way over the line here. If you want to continue your anti-Israel rant, I'm sure there are some fine threads at DU, al Jazeera and Stormfront.

"We mourn these seven souls, but we should also celebrate the fact that we have people like this who are willing to risk it all for a glimpse of the unknown. They are in God's hands now." Beautifully said ~ and I think this is how the crew would choose to be remembered. ~ I also think they would want us to continue their mission.

I sincerely hope Bush closes up his speech on an uplifting note by declaring that the US will be back in space soon, Absolutely.
But, it will be interesting and instructive to see how the Democrats spin this. We know they will. They cannot help but spin it.

Melbourne FL is one of our favorite places and we finally toured the space center last year. It's going to hit that area especially hard.

I just got home a few minutes ago and learned about this.....how many more tragedies must President Bush and our country endure? Our President already had such a full plate......none of it his making.....prayers to our President, the Astronaut's families and friends, our military, the 9/11 victim's families, and all Americans. I thank God, every day, that Bush is our President during oh these so very many and awful, heartbreaking tragedies!

I didn't go that far south yet. Just from Alaska to Washington. My great aunt refers to us as those who went south.

It is a pleasant area.
The Space Program, Rocket Launches, Beaches(where I live), Airport, Shopping and Restaurants, Baseball Spring Training, and proximity to Orlando and other cities make it a near perfect place.

Like no one else on the Shuttle was important, right? Your clutch needs work. It's allowing the idle thoughts in your head to spill out of your mouth.
Don't be such an ass.

I hope I don't seem intrusive here, but I decided, after years of lurking, to join today, and I couldn't think of a better time. This tragedy is just awful for us all, and I join in prayer with everyone. Forgive my sort-of duplicate post on another thread; I didn't 'get it' at first. Anyway, prayers to all of the families and their loved ones and to our country.
Regards,
Moe
