Scott Ritter in Saugerties NY (After Action Report)

Posted on 01/31/2003 7:06:48 PM PST by 76Tiger

Watch Albany Channel 6 (WRGB) 11 o'clock news. 76Tiger was interviewed by Joe Gambino (no, a different "family") and asked for a reaction to Scott Ritter's talk at the Saugerties Senior Center tonight. Although I'm not sure how much will survive the editing process, I told Joe that Ritter was inconsistent, political and now lacked credibility. Joe pressed me on Ritter's credibility and whether the recent disclosures influenced my opinion. I responded by saying that during the 90's, Ritter was very vocal and rabid against the Iraq regime, and now he's their biggest cheerleader, claiming that they can't possibly harbor WMDs. I speculated that given his reported sexual proclivities, perhaps an Iraqi intelligence agency obtained some incriminating evidence against him while he was in Iraq and have flipped him.

I'll add more reporting after I unwind and reconstruct the evening. Suffice it to say that if you've been wondering what became of all the long-haired graying 60's war protestors, wonder no longer. It was sickening.

Thanks for your report. PS did they show you?

Yes, as a matter of fact they did. As I expected, they edited the front end of my comments and kept the sexual proclivities remark. Joe Gambino introduced it well by explaining that Ritter, in essence, has lost his credibility. Weren't you at the Kingston Hillary protest back in Aug 2000?

Haven't been on FR today, until now so would also like to add that Schenectady Community College cancelled the puke's lecture yesterday. This is probably old news here but the Albany Times Union had a photo of the college pres. who looked so glum about having to cancel.

He was worried about security and that's why he cancelled!

Last eve. on local news, a female student told the reporter she would've cancelled the puke weeks ago when the story about his arrest became public. She further stated she couldn't understand the pres.'s taking so long to cancel the puke. Sheesh! at least some level headed people attend the school.

Funny that they are now attending events with the likes of Scott Ritter headlining. Kinda shows you that some people never learn.

Well, imagine the medications the senior center must have. Groovy.

Look at the photos at http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a39a9ccc76a82.htm . There's a blonde woman Freeper who carried a sign of an upside-down person. She's on the first photo on the extreme left. Small world, but she's a good friend of our family and lives in Delmar 5 or 6 houses away from Ritter. Oh, the stories she tells. Unfortunately, she attended a funeral tonight and was unable to make it to Saugerties. Lucky girl.

Yeh, and my 13 year old hears them on TV, and corrects their re-written history. She knows more than they do about world events. She can't believe "how really dumb the liberals are."
What a great kid. :-)

They're so much like small children. They start little "clubs" they join and have group temper tantrums together.

Exactly correct. In fact, they announced a special "club" was forming to travel to Baghdad and act as human shields.

As Lt. Ripley would say, "Let's take off and nuke the site from orbit....it's the only way to be sure".

Were you able to print and hand out the Sexual Predator Alerts?

Liberals are shameless. They will support incredulous scum like Ritter so long as the incredulous scum mouths the right cliches. Sick, evil people who support Ritter and dictators like Saddamn Hussein are not worth worrying about. Hopefully, they will go to Baghdad and die in place of the Iraqi civilians who want freedom from Hussein's totalitarian regime. No tears will be shed here for their sacrifice. They are as sick and deluded as the suicide bombers, IMHO. Maybe they believe that 72 reefers will be awaiting them in heaven.

A couple of more items I recalled:

An audience member asked Ritter about the US using some particularly nasty weapons such as depleted uranium. Ritter did explain that DU is used in ordinance to penetrate reactive armor, but that we were poisoning their ground (water) and shouldn't use weapons that we wouldn't want used against us. Huh? Forget about the fact that the primary source of tungsten, the next best penetrator, is the PRC.

He also claimed that the aluminum tubes imported by Iraq, that the administration claims is dual-use with application in uranium enrichment processors, is only being used for simple artillery rockets. Sure, Scott.

Best of all was a comment made by an audience member about the state of Israel, and how they constantly defy the UN. Ritter agreed, and said that they could, in effect, be considered a rogue state and subject to UN sanctions (cheers), but the US would veto any SC resolutions.

On the matter of the UN, Ritter again needs a lesson on the US Constituion. He kept referring to UN "law" as binding on the US, rather than bound via treaties ratified by the Senate and upheld by the USSC if challenged.

Excellent report...thank you.

If your local paper covers the event, could you add it to this thread tomorrow? Thanks again.

A point worth making again and again. Great one-man FReep tonight! You did us all proud.

His flip was a product of several factors, but I think the bottom line is the bottom line. His first arrest came about the time his story changed. I think he decided that he could actually earn a lot of money by being the 'other side guy.' The more he was asked on the talk shows, the more he would be asked to paid speaking engagements. Once the Dems decided to fight against Bush, that made him about the only one out there on Iraq's side. In other words, I think he kind of stumbled into the position he is in and realized it could be profitable.

...my theory is that the Iraq gestapo (or whatever they're called) had the girly goods on him in Iraq and blackmailed/flipped him, and he started speaking publicly in support of Iraq. At that point, one of our alphabet agencies leaked the information about his girly activities in the US in order to discredit him...

Interesting scenario.

What do you think their motivation might have been, in sitting on the leak for nearly two years?

Richstag fire

Ritter seems almost posessed, in his vitriolic disgust for the Bush administration. Didn't Hitler's own people perp the Richstag fire? Does Ritter actually think Bush had something to do with 09/11?

I appreciate your freep, the good comments to the media and your reports here. I am amazed at the quantity and quality of subversive elements in our nation.

I believe in free speach, but sometimes I question if there doesn't come a time when subversives abuse that right to the point that either they or the nation must survive, but both can't. I'm not saying we're there by any means, but his open treachery just seems to be beyond the pale to me.

According to Ritter (and others) Iraq had three complete nuclear devices needing only the material (which is in itself no small potatoes since it doesn't store well). In other words, they have the capability to make working nuclear weapons if - and as soon as- they can obtain sufficient quantities of enriched nuclear material. Iraq has no shortage of yellow cake, but it needs to get enough cetrifuges to process it in sufficient quantities. Hence Iraq has taken a two-pronged approach: it has bought parts (like those specialized aluminum tubes, switches, ring magnets, etc) to make large numbers of centrifuges and such, as well as tried to go around the refining process by attempting to buy quantities of already enriched material.
