What was your favorite quote from the SOTU tonight?
January 28, 2003

And why. Why do you believe in that particular quote? How does it affect conservatism? How does it affect our war on Terror? How does it affect 8 years of the previous socialist/communist state we were supposed to embrace?

They way I see it, those topics, although interesting, aren't worth my time to argue. It's like arguing with a rabid dog, they've lost all reasoning.

"Free People set the course of history..."

This could be an identifier, much like the JFK "Ask not..." line, except that our media won't give it that type of press. These are the words of a statesman, like one of our founding fathers would have said.

It is one of the basics of our nation...to thrive and progress is simply a combination of a dream, some ambition, and the freedom to make it happen.

3. The best way to address the deficit and move toward a balanced budget is to encourage economic growth and to show some spending discipline in Washington, D.C."

and then offered up how many billions in spending?

I guess it was a lame attempt to be funny. I thought my fellow milpers would dig the quote. I WISH W had said that in the speech. Why the hell would a RAT have a Patton speech saved on his hard-drive anyway? Get Bent.

I really loved the part where he pledged to us all that he would dramatically reduce the size and scope of the federal government and would begin by eliminating unnecessary departments.

Also, when he swore to abolish the IRS and to bring as many troups home as necessary to secure and defend the borders of the USA.

That was great.

"I'm going to slap Saddam around like a rented mule, and then I'm gonna go have a little talk with Mr. Daschle"

Or something like that - I couldn't hear it well because I was grabbing a soda.

Imagine those 19 hijackers with other weapons, and other plans -- this time armed by Saddam Hussein. It would take just one vial, one canister, one crate slipped into this country to bring a day of horror like none we have ever known.

Great minds think alike.

"Adversity has revealed the character of our country...." Beautiful. Adversity always does separate the men from the boys; those who do the right thing because they know right from wrong.

"God bless the United States of America".....and God bless President George W. Bush.

"It is, but there is a lot of damage to repair in eight short years."

LOL! What a short-sited viewpoint. It hasn't happenned in eight years, it's been going on for about 50 years. And it won't turn around in a second. No matter what you Paleo's think! It moving forward with this President. And, BTW, I will note that there is not ONE, not ONE former Patsie on this site that will come forward and say that things look positive. That tells me A LOT about the Reformers, and the pitchforkers, and the direction that they want to move this country. They may as well be democrats. LOL!

Didn't it take alot of energy to develop the A-bomb? Fuel cells and other alternative energy sources deserve research attention in this war on terror.

Can you tell me what the terms 'Paleo', 'Patsie', 'Reformers', and 'Pitchforkers' mean as you used them? This is a sincere question. I'm not up on my jargon. If there's a FR glossary with this info, that would help.
