Is it just me or could those words have applied just as easily tonite in the SITU speech aas they did on a cold January day in 1981? Reagan was talking about protecting the free world from the Soviet Union. But it could apply to our current situation and what we're trying to do to stop the terrorist menace as well.

Yes, it was a moving moment. Anytime a sincere President acknowledges the military is a poignant moment. Never happened with the previous administration. They loathed him.

I didn't care for the hydrogen part and the government doing research.

Government is only there to do what the private sector can't do, won't do or shouldn't do!

Most of the enviro-weenies today are still pining for solar and wind power! Solar power is not a proven technology and would require panels covering the entire country to work. And when it comes to wind power, the liberals love it until someone proposes putting wind machines in front of their pretty view like someone recently did by wanting to put them on Martha's Vineyard.

And when the left wing enviro-nazis stop driving around in limos to go to their narcissus award shows, I'll listen. When Norman Lear sells his 5 gazillion square foot home with a 21 car garage, I'll listen.

Agree. And you've hit on one reason that I was so underwhelmed by the advent of the Segway - with all the puffery associated with its launch, I assumed that it had some sort of radical, non-polluting fuel source. Nope - plain ol' lithium-ion technology.

Well, if we have flames, we need a shower to put them out. Sorry, just kidding. I hear you. I personally have very little stomach for flame-fests. I rarely, if ever, post replies to salvos made in such skirmishes. The way I look at it is that I'd need to feel either as passionate or as knowledgeable as those participating in a flame-war, and I rarely feel like I meet either of those qualifications. So if I were to participate, I'd either end up feeling out of my league (and thus chastened), or out-shouted (and thus defensive and/or upset).

Pardon my ignorance, and perhaps inappropriate query on this thread, but doesn't it take a LOT of energy to extract hydrogen from those molecules in which it is componant? Where is the source of atomically free elemental hydrogen that can be tapped without generating electricity for seperating H from H2O, for example?
