ALBANY, NY, Jan. 20 - Scott Ritter of Delmar is well known internationally as an outspoken, former U.N. weapons inspector. Now more information is coming to light about Ritter's past and a disturbing arrest.
Police released this mugshot following
the arrest of William Ritter in June 2001.
Lindsay Cohen reports.
COLONIE POLICE CANNOT comment on whether or not they actually arrested Ritter on charges he solicited an underage girl over the Internet. They say this is because if an arrest was made, it was sealed due to court proceedings.
<....Snip...>
However, NewsChannel 13 reported in June 2001 about an arrest of a 39-year-old William Ritter of Delmar on charges he tried to lure a 16-year-old girl he met on the Internet to a Burger King in Menands. According to police, the intent of that meeting was so that she could watch him perform sexual acts on himself.
At that time police said William Ritter was arrested before doing anything, but was facing multiple misdemeanor charges for trying to solicit an underage girl for sexual reasons.<...snip...>

I've read he's egotistical. But I had no idea he was that self-absorbed.

And people didn't understand the concept of "strategic seduction" when the Lewinski scandal came out. Folks thought I was being melodramatic, "it's just sex" and all that PC garbage.

This is great -- mug shut and report before the assistant DA got the records sealed. Gotta love it!

I am SO mean-spirited.
No, you are so dang good!
BTW, loved your duel with that tinfoilist on the other Ritter perv thread, but I think you were wasting your time trying to convince him of anything.

Is it possible that Clinton has also been arrested in New York for something similar? Anyone know?

Ya know, Shermy, that if a real life 16-year-old girl was involved and not a cop in an internet sting, it makes the reduction of charges to a low-level misdemeanor--with a sealed record to boot AND with no jail time, no fine, no probation, no NOTHING--even more baffling, especially since the ADA didn't tell the DA about the charges until HE found out from a reporter. What would've made the ADA risk her job of 15 years to cover for Scott Ritter?
A few people have some 'spainin' to do.

Thank you. I am one of those naive souls who believes that there ARE people of honor and patriotism working for our government.
Obviously, Scott Ritter was not one of them.
I STILL think this smells like the Clintons. They have a history of messing with records...sealing or releasing them as suits their purpose.
We really need to find out about the people in the DA's office...both the gal who was fired and the DA, who might have thrown her to the wolves to protect his own hide...particularly if the feds had started investigating Ritter and discovered that this had been sealed.
To: Catspaw
Could they be people who wanted him to support the Democratic Party's view of Saddam as peaceful man?
To: Catspaw
$$$$. This might be the smoking gun on Ritter. Could it be that someone paid $$$ to the asst DA to cover this up for Ritter? Who might THAT have been?
Shortly thereafter, Ritter starts making the talk show circuit singing a new tune on Saddam and Iraq. Hmmm...

The head DA didn't fire the sub-DA with many years of experience without plenty investigation, I suppose. Perhaps some LEOs, court staff or other prosecutors weren't happy about the secrecy in the first place, and were reminded about it with a recent viewing of Ritter on TV. She/he/they made it known that they would go public, and the head DA decided to take action.
Why was it secret in the first place? When I first heard the story I supposed it was to protect the minor's name or some similar sentiment. But no actual minor was involved, as we now know. Bribery? Was the assistant DA a friend of the family? Cetainly the Head DA didn't think it proper.
As the Ritter dog and pony show progressed many people, incl. myself, developed a feeling that mental illness might be part of the equation of his conduct. This story seems to further than view.
