New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is fuming mad over Rolling Stones members smoking on stage at Madison Square Garden during an nationally televised concert this weekend, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"The mayor sent cops to issue summonses," one stage source told the DRUDGE REPORT late Saturday. "But the cops watched the show, off stage, by a monitor, instead of stopping the concert."

HBO cameras captured band members Keith Richards and Ron Wood smoking cigarettes while performing.

"The band raced out of the Garden after they finished their last number, avoiding the police," an insider said. "The music had not even finished playing; and they were in cars already, spinning away. The did not even go to their dressing rooms!"

In December, ex-smoker Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed a strict smoking ban in New York City.

Bloomberg is also trying to get smoking banned in Central Park.

You'd also know of Middletown, NY's problems with city business being conducted behind closed doors away from public input.
You'd also know that this kind of behavior is epidemic in this state. Sheldon Silver does the same thing, business behind closed doors.

Hehehe. I saw that one. There's no 'proof' that his or her grandfather voted for anyone. How does anyone KNOW who anyone votes for unless we are told by the voter (or his illegal proxy)? Receiving a form letter from the DNC is only proof of an out-of-date directory. On the other hand, I have no doubt that voting fraud is a problem, just that people of good will can argue over the extent of the problem and whether it affects election outcomes or not.

I agree (with the latter, but not so much the former) - I'm not a Libertarian.

There is nothing in the Constitution that prevents gladiator fights - each state has laws against that. If one agrees to doing that, it's assumed that said one is mentally deranged, and not able to be involved in a contract.

It's still a state issue.

If I had my way I would have every voter provide proof of identity before being handed a ballot. After all, officials govern only at the consent of the governed.

Flashpots and smoke machines are okay at concerts (and we all know that some people are smoking pot at the concerts) and they get outraged at a performer smoking onstage?

Maybe the city officials think it sends a bad message to let former heroin and cocaine junkies smoke tobacco on the stage.

The press had one article about it before it got pulled.

Here you just walk up and say "Hi I am so and so" sign the name that you say you are and vote. Nobody asks for ID or anything. You could walk into every voting booth in town and vote and nobody would be any wiser.

Bloomberg isn't now and never was a Republican, he is a liberal democrat who switched parties because the GOP nomination was an easier score than the democratic one.

Go ahead and doubt if you will...my aunt DID call the Board of Elections about it, and was told that someone DID cast a write-in vote in Grandpa's name (you're right about not "knowing" who he voted for, but that "thank you note" sure gives us a good clue).

Surely you know that voter fraud is rampant in New York and that it is even illegal to request proof of identity -- let alone eligibility -- before casting a vote here. You do know that, don't you?

When it comes to a legislature that is hopelessly out of touch with the people it's supposed to represent, it's the only option left in an off-election year.
Besides, the smoking ban is stupid.
How about they legislate when you can drive? Makes about as much sense.
