[history]
Counterdemonstrators were few compared with anti-war protesters yesterday, but they made their sentiments known at the U.S. Marine barracks.
By midafternoon, anti-war protesters were about two-thirds of the way through their march from the National Mall to the Navy Yard in Southeast when they met 80 counterdemonstrators outside the barracks at Eighth and I streets SE. The counterdemonstrators waved American flags and signs, some of which read "If you must burn our flag, wrap yourself in it first" and "What Would You Have Done on Flight 93? Free Iraq Now."

2 questions: Was our flag burned? Who is supporting and organizing these groups?
"I came to engage in some stimulating dialogue and to see democracy in operation," said Richard, 47, of Norfolk who retired from the U.S. Coast Guard. "I only wish the Iraqis had the same." He would not give his last name."
Well said Richard,

Saw y'all on C-Span just a few minutes ago. Recognized you right off even when the camera was a ways off, because of all the American and Marine Corp flags waving in the breeze over your section. Someone in your group was singing God Bless America on a bullhorn. Was a beatiful sight to behold, especially considering the great masses of anti-American communist agitators we had been watching just before. Recognized several of you in the crowd. You, TGSLTakoma, Dr Raul, and others. Thank you all so much for being there!

C-SPAN blew it by not covering our rally, but I'm surprised they showed the footage of us that they did.
The Marines and their fellow vets were great, as were the FReepers. It was a long day, but some of us will be out again tomorrow to cause more heartburn for the America-hating left.

I've been doing some research about the organizers. These "anti-war" rallies are being orchestrated. They are not grassroots Hey Kristinn, Great Freep and the anti-american nit wits .. they mentioned today on C-span they are gathering again at the UN Building on Feb 15th and several other cities across the country

Though devils all the world should fill, all eager to devour us.
We tremble not, we fear no ill, they shall not overpower us.
This worlds prince may still scowl fierce as he will,
He can harm us none, hes judged; the deed is done;
One little Word can fell him.

2 questions: Was our flag burned? Who is supporting and organizing these groups? It was claimed that some American flags were burned at the Portland protest. I'll look for confirmation.

Oh, wow! I have reverence for all the anti-anti-war demonstrators. It's beautiful. What courageous folks.
To: kristinn
I just finished reading "Reagan"s War", and much documentation about communists organizing peace protests, anti-war movements. (To help break down support for Reagan's plans)
Do ya suppose they are still at it?
I have wondered how much damage Clinton did after Reagan's sucess, but can't find any good books written about the communistic situation, if they are regathering.
I am only a little people, but wonder if they are again behind these protests!

Oh, thanks so much for your rally for Peace. Wish I was there.

Great sound bites here. Too bad that the main-line press will ignore them.
Interesting situation though, the "peace and love" crowd tried to rush the lines of those who had the gaul to use one of "their" means of getting our their message? Gee, imagine that!

I never saw ya'll on tv--didn't think to turn it on after I heard that C-SPAN had declined to broadcast you counter-protesters. However, I didn't have to see it to know that ya'll did a great job!
It is such a pleasure to be able to call many of you "friend". It might at times be hard to realize now, but you guys ARE making a difference!
