Protesters Gathering To Oppose War

Tens of thousands of people have converged on the National Mall this morning to rally against U.S. military operations in Iraq, and a smaller group also gathered to express support for military action.

[...]

Not everyone on the Mall today is opposing military involvement in Iraq. A group of counter-protesters assembled about 9 a.m. to demonstrate support for both U.S. troops abroad and Bush's policies toward Iraq.

Kristinn Taylor, a co-leader of Free Republic, a conservative news and activism Web site that helped organize the event, said that 200 to 400 people were expected to turn out for the counter-protest, which is also supported by the D.C. chapter of MOVEOUT (Marines and Other Veterans Engaging Outrageous Un-American Traitors).

Taylor said that the group supports the president's policies toward Iraq because to do nothing "is the enslavement of the Iraqi people and the Iraqi government having weapons of mass destruction."

Kathryn C. Wood, of Burke, Va., a co-leader of Free Republic, said, "We're out here to support the troops. They defend our freedom and our rights."

Thanks for posting the pics. I'm happy once again to have attended the DC Patriots Rally III. I only wish we had more Americans join with us.

Somehow I missed your flag, ex-Texan. If I weren't 300 miles away, I'd be there with you....we've protested so much on this end of the state the last couple years, we're just about worn out. If you ever want to organize another, I'll try to help out! It's hard to motivate these Oregonians!

Protesters Gathering To Oppose War Bush

They're not concerned about peace. If they were, they'd be consistant.
They were no where to be found when Clinton deployed troops and bombed - even when it had nothing to do with our national security.

Even their vsits to create terror in the minds of little school chldren had nothing to do with peace. They used the terrified children as political tools. They'd send them home to pressure their parents not to vote for Bush in 2004, using the war as an anti-Bush propaganda tool.
If it were othewise, they'd have found pro-Bush supporters anywhere. 56% of the population supports Bushs plan to out Saddam.
They simply didn't want the pro-American patriots message to get to the children. Their propaganda campain would have been ruined.

Tens of thousands of people ?

According to FOX, that count is a lot lower. They're waiting for a real number.

I know exactly what you mean. I had drill with the guard and must have been flipped off a hundred times by jerks coming from the DC area driving home.

I was thinking of how much gasoline and use of oil products it took to bring these people to DC? You would think that none of them used fuel at all. The women protesting for Iraq give no thought at all to the situation of women there.
A really impressive protest would be for every one of them to use a bike or roller blades for one year and put their vehicle up on blocks. They should avoid using any products used made with oil. I would be far more impressed with that
move by the spoiled fans of Saddam.

Unfortunately the "water" battle continues...we're just worn out! It would be nice to actually "resolve" one of these issues, wouldn't it?
