I just signed the national "I SUPPORT THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF" petition to support our President's actions in the war against terror and wants you do the same. Click below to stand with our Commander In Chief:

Jane Fonda, Oliver Stone, West Wing's Martin Sheen, Gloria Steinem, Rev. Al Sharpton and others have taken part in a national effort to "Resist the war and repression that has been loosed on the world by the Bush Administration. It is unjust, immoral and illegitimate."

The organization is calling itself NION (Not In Our Name), and already more than 200,000 have joined the celebrity elite in this brutal attempt to undermine our President's policies.

Using the Internet, and major media outlets, they are openly and viciously attacking President Bush by stating that their goal is to "resist the policies and overall political direction that have emerged since September 11, 2001."

As Americans who love our God, and country, this is outrageous!

* * * * A CALL TO ACTION! * * * *

We are tired of the celebrity elite stealing away our voice on key issues that affect our nation by proclaiming:

NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE LIBERTY-LOVING CITIZENS OF OUR GREAT NATION TO RISE UP AND SUPPORT OUR PRESIDENT IN THE FACE OF THESE DAMAGING ASSAULTS BY CLICKING BELOW:

Through this national effort, Grassfire.net wants to deliver more than 100,000 signed petitions as quickly as possible to the White House, key leaders in Congress, and to the NION advisory board.

Here's how YOU can help ...

* * * ACTION ITEM #1 --SIGN THE PETITION

We are calling on every American to sign our national "I SUPPORT THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF" petition.

Click below to sign:

And after signing, we are asking you to forward this message to 20-30 of your freedom-loving friends--urging them to stand with the President and against the liberal-minded message of Jane Fonda, Oliver Stone and others by signing the petition as well!

Thank you for lending your voice in the growing chorus of support for our Commander In Chief!

Grassfire.net Real Impact. Read Feedback. Real Results.

P.S. Just one year ago, political leaders from both sides of the aisle as well as the Hollywood elite rallied behind our President. Now, just one year later, the radical left is undermining the President while our servicemen and women are defending our way of life!

To counter NION's efforts, we are asking you to help us double, even triple their efforts as soon as possible. Please join the thousands of others who are urging Congress to support the Commander In Chief, today!

Who's right?

Five surgeons are discussing who makes the best
patients on the operating table.

The first surgeon says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table, because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered."

The second responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded."

The third surgeon says, "No, I really think librarians are the best, all their body parts are in alphabetical order."

The fourth surgeon chimes in, "You know, I like construction workers, those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over at the end, and
when the job takes longer than you expected it would."

But the fifth surgeon shut them all up when he
observed, "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, and no spine, and the head and the a$$ are interchangeable.

Retired Air Force Col. Frank Steer

Oldest Living West Point Grad Celebrates 102nd Birthday

By Army Sgt. Bradley Rhen
U.S. Army Hawaii Public Affairs

Retired Col. Frank Steer, the oldest living graduate of West Point and a World War I veteran, celebrated his 102nd birthday Jan. 12 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay.

Steer, who was the first Provost Marshal of the Air Force, graduated from the academy in 1925. At the celebration Jan. 12, he received an honorary promotion to the rank of provost marshal general.

In honor of the occasion, Hawaii governor Linda Lingle proclaimed Sunday “General Steer Day.” State Representative Guy Ontai, a 1978 graduate of West Point, was on hand to read the proclamation.

Jack Miller, president of the Hawaii Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, said it’s a rare historic moment to be in the presence of a veteran of both World Wars.

“Not everyone gets to be 102,” Miller said. “He’s been a great patriot. He’s worked very hard. He served under General Pershing and General MacArthur, and it’s a special honor to have him in our chapter.”

Maj. Gen. Eric T. Olson, commander of the 25th Infantry Division (Light) and U.S. Army, Hawaii, attended the celebration and said it’s important for current service members to honor veterans like Steer.

“He’s had a tremendous career of service to the United States of America, the Army and the Air Force,” Olson said. “And he’s the oldest living graduate of the United States Military Academy. It’s absolutely incredible that the oldest living graduate of the United States Military Academy is here in Hawaii this close to us so we can help celebrate his birthday.”

As a birthday present of sorts, Olson gave Steer a black beret with two-star major general rank pinned on.

“The beret has got a pretty long history in the armed forces worldwide,” Olson said. “It’s something I knew he’d appreciate because he’s seen berets on a lot of people from a lot of different forces. I was honored to place a beret on his head.”

Steer was born Jan. 12, 1901, in the Indian Territory that later became part of Oklahoma. His father was a member of the National Guard and Steer learned to shoot at the age of 8.

He enlisted in the Army when he was 17 years old and, after training, was shipped off to World War I. He was assigned to the 2nd Army Defensive Area under Gen. John Pershing and saw combat action in France, including the Meus Argonne Offensive.

After the war, Steer served in occupation duty in France. He was recently awarded the French Legion of Honor by France for his service.

“I was a good educational student, but a lousy disciplinarian, graduating number 10 in mathematics and 243 out of 244 in discipline,” Steer said of his time at West Point. “After arriving at West Point as a combat veteran of the ‘Great War,’ I called the upper classmen ‘slackers’ and ‘draft dodgers.’ Thereafter, two of the best hazers of the upper classmen were assigned to me and were close to my heels at all formations.”

After occupation duty, Steer was discharged from the Army. He was not out of the Army for long, though, when the governor of Oklahoma appointed him to West Point.

Steer still owed 33 area tours in 1999 when he received an official pardon by West Point Superintendent Lt. Gen. Dan Christman on his 98th birthday.

After graduation in 1925, Steer was assigned to teach math at West Point.

He served in the Philippines during the 1930s and was later assigned to Hawaii as the Provost Marshal of the Hawaiian Department. This was his assignment on the Dec. 7, 1941, Japanese attack on O'ahu, after which he became the martial law Provost Marshal.

Later, he was appointed Mid-Pacific Provost Marshal and was responsible for thousands of prisoners of war.

In 1947, he was assigned to the Pentagon and was appointed as the first Provost Marshal of the Air Force.

After 32 years in uniform, Steer retired on June 30, 1950, and he now lives in Kailua.

As for his secrets to longevity, Steer had a few simple recommendations.

“Chew your food,” he told reporters. “It’s more important than anything else. If you don’t chew your food well, your digestive system won’t be able to get all the nutrients out of it.”

Steer also recommends exercising mind and body and simply, “Wake up every day.”

The Cost of raising Children

I have seen repeatedly the breakdown of the cost of raising a child,
but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way.

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from
birth to 18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle income family.

Talk about sticker shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition.

But $160,140 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into
$8,896.66 a year, $741.38 a month, or $171.08 a week. That's a mere
$24.24 a day! Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice says don't have
children if you want to be "rich." It is just the opposite.

What do your get for your $160,140?

Naming rights? First, middle, and last!

Glimpses of God every day.

Giggles under the covers every night.

More love than your heart can hold.

Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.

Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.

A hand to hold, usually covered with jam.

A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites, building sandcastles, and
skipping down the sidewalk in the pouring rain.

Someone to laugh yourself silly with no matter what the boss said or
how your stocks performed that day.

For $160,140, you never have to grow up.

You get to finger-paint, carve pumpkins, play hide-and-seek, catch
lightning bugs, and never stop believing in Santa Claus.

You have an excuse to keep: reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,
watching Saturday morning cartoons, going to Disney movies, and wishing
on stars.

You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator
magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand
prints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for
Father's Day.

For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck.

You get to be a hero just for retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,
taking the training wheels off the bike, removing a splinter, filling a
wading pool, coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball
team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.

You get a front row seat to history to witness the first step, first

word, first bra, first date, and first time behind the wheel.

You get to be immortal.

You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky,
a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren.

You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice,
communications, and human sexuality that no college can match.

In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there with God. You have all
the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed,
patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and
love them without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without
counting the cost.

ENJOY YOUR KIDS AND GRAND KIDS.

The best things in life are family and friends~!~

From Snow Bunny!

God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now that I'm 'older' (but refuse to grow up), here's what I've discovered:

I. started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and All Bran.

3. I finally got my head together; now my body is falling apart.

4. Funny, I don't remember being absent minded...

4. Funny, I don't remember being absent minded...

5. All reports are in; life is now officially unfair.

6. If all is not lost, where is it?

7. It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.

8. Some days you're the dog; some days you're the hydrant.

9. I wish the buck stopped here; I sure could use a few...

10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.

11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.

12. It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere.

13. The only time the world beats a path to your door is when you're in the bathroom.

14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees.

15. When I'm finally holding all the cards, why does everyone decide to play chess?

16. It's not hard to meet expenses... they're everywhere.

17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter ...I go somewhere to get something and then wonder what I'm here after.

19. I AM UNABLE TO REMEMBER IF I HAVE MAILED THIS TO YOU OR NOT!

20. Funny, I don't remember being, . . . absent minded...

Now I think you're supposed to send this to 5 or 6, maybe 10, oh, send it to a bunch of your friends if you can remember who they are.

Then something is supposed to happen, I think. Maybe you get your memory back

I went to the store the other day, and I was in there for only
about 5 minutes. When I came out there was a damn motorcycle cop
writing a parking ticket. So I went up to him and said,
"Come on, buddy, how about giving a guy a break?"
He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.
So I called him a pencil-necked nazi. He glared at me and started
writing another ticket for my having worn tires!
So I called him a piece of horse crap. He finished the second ticket
and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a
third ticket! This went on for about 20 minutes... the more I abused
him, the more tickets he wrote.
I didn't give a damn.

My car was parked around the corner.
I try to have a little fun each day. It's important.
