Excellent post. Democracy is the form of government most subject to stripping an individuals rights by the tyranny of the majority, and the tyranny of the minority. The USofA is a prime example. Our democracy was suppose to be balanced by the Republic form of government which brought the populace closer to their representatives in order to control and hold in check the tyranny possible from both ends of democracy. The mess we have now is due to the bad idea of having a powerful centralized government.

I beg your pardon. People who consider individual liberties and the Constitution "drivel" shouldn't be here at all.
And I have already donated.

BTW, it's not wise to insult someone just before asking them for support.

Once the nipples of democracy have been exposed to the piglets gathering round the hub of majority rule, we engender a perpetual breeding process of decadent usurpation by the masses over the fewPriceless. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the area of taxation. The demonRATS have made a business out of convincing people who don't pay income tax, i.e., the bottom 51%, that they should continue to vote for the vermin for office who try to imply that "you can always vote to raise the other guy's taxes." Consequently, the top 49% now pay 95% of the total bill.

It's interesting that in a recent poll, people were asked if they were in the top 1% of income earners.
17% thought they were, and another 22% thought they would be within 5 years.
Attacks on "the rich 1%" thus have 40% of the people thinking the attack is on them personally. Liberals don't seem to get this.

These are also the same kind of people who were trying to
ban peanuts from airplanes. That little test failed, so per
Lenin's dictum they backed and are trying elsewhere.

Good post, Max.
Of course the Cultural Jihad and cake_crumb types, while calling the writer and you (by implication) an ideologue, will continue merrily along trying to impose their ways and preferences on us when all we want is to left alone.

Hmmmmm . . . Not only does he want to be able to do ANYTHING he wants, he doesn't want other folks making him feel guilty. I believe that shame and culture have a big role to play in society.
I think the anti-SUV campaign is silly. But the anti-SUV folks have the right to whine.

Ho hum. More ideologue drivel. Yeah, that Freedom stuff... it really gets in the way, doesn't it?

We ALL impose our values upon others, all the time, even you. If you want to be left alone, there are a few islands for sale on eBay, I hear.

Hell, we've got folks on this forum that would gladly outlaw anything you might find enjoyable, but they, in their twisted little minds, find evil. Drinking and gambling come immediately to mind...
