Excellent post. Democracy is the form of government most subject to stripping an individuals rights by the tyranny of the majority, and the tyranny of the minority. The USofA is a prime example. Our democracy was suppose to be balanced by the Republic form of government which brought the populace closer to their representatives in order to control and hold in check the tyranny possible from both ends of democracy. The mess we have now is due to the bad idea of having a powerful centralized government.

Once the nipples of democracy have been exposed to the piglets gathering round the hub of majority rule, we engender a perpetual breeding process of decadent usurpation by the masses over the few

Priceless. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the area of taxation. The demonRATS have made a business out of convincing people who don't pay income tax, i.e., the bottom 51%, that they should continue to vote for the vermin for office who try to imply that "you can always vote to raise the other guy's taxes." Consequently, the top 49% now pay 95% of the total bill.

These are also the same kind of people who were trying to
ban peanuts from airplanes. That little test failed, so per
Lenin's dictum they backed and are trying elsewhere.

Good post, Max.

Of course the Cultural Jihad and cake_crumb types, while calling the writer and you (by implication) an ideologue, will continue merrily along trying to impose their ways and preferences on us when all we want is to left alone.

Hell, we've got folks on this forum that would gladly outlaw anything you might find enjoyable, but they, in their twisted little minds, find evil. Drinking and gambling come immediately to mind...

A nice post. The young lady has a sharp and perceptive intelligence.

Personally, I think SUVs are stupid, ugly looking vehicles. I wouldn't have one on a bet. But it is not my business to pass judgment on what my neighbors drive. But the point is that while I do not think the issue in this post is itself important; I think it very important that Americans resist bandwagons to mind their neighbors business. SUVs will never be the defining issue between the American tradition and the forces of the egalitarian Left (i.e. the various variations of Socialism), but they have evoked some symptomatic reactions. This writer has reacted appropriately to denounce the sort of mindset that is essential for Socialism to triumph.
