LACI PETERSON UPDATE- 1-14-03
Fox News- On The Record | 1-14-03 | Greta Van Sustern

Posted on 01/15/2003 1:12:22 AM PST by DWar

Van Sustren interviewed 20 year Berkley Bay fisherman Craig Stone. Stone said that nothing about what Scott Peterson did on the fishing trip to Berkley Bay seemed out of the ordinary to him from a fishing viewpoint. The bait was appropriate and available. The sturgeon were available. The boat size was not unusual. The optimal fishing area was not far off shore. The fish are prized but not easily caught. The time of day peterson was fishing was appropriate. It all seemed plausable to him.

Thank you for posting that. His smile sends chills down my spine...moreso now that there seems to be this trail leading back to him, of course. And yes, I am referring to Alice.

If I was going to kill somebody for the money, I'd be doing it for a lot more than $250K, but that's just me.

I think he may have done it just to get rid of her, and the insurance money would help tide him over as he starts a new life. So I don't think money is the primary motive here. If she had $1 million or more on her life, I might think otherwise. I think it was to get out of the marriage and the responsibility--a clean break, so to speak.

"CBS just announcing that Scott Peterson WAS having an affair at the time of his wife's death ..."

Oh My gosh..If that is true what a first rate punk..

KIMCHEE, KIMCHEE, KIMCHEE, such language!!! How come we never heard this form of condemnation against your role models, Busty Brenda and the Demon Seed Van Dam's, when it was common knowledge that they were "swingers" and enjoyed "pleasuring" other men and women?

Tsk Tsk KIMCHEE, why this sudden burst of indignation on your part?

Of course we know you're secretly pulling for Scotty even if you have publicly denounced his "alleged philandering.

Those were my thoughts also. I remember reading sometime back that a woman was killed and her belly slashed opened and was delivered of a boy. They found the woman with the child and arrested her. It may well be this is the same horrible situation. Lacy was 8 months pregnant. A baby can be delivered and live at that term.

The father now has the child and the baby is doing well.
This is a very dark age we are living in. May God help us all!!!

Thanks, nic. So it looks like he was doing a little 'fishing' after all, huh?...

Thanks for the update. I have been interested in this story.

They will find her soon, and it won't be a pleasant sight...

If the Enquirer story about the cement found at Scott's warehouse is true, that must be why police seem to be focusing more on waterways as possible places where the body could be found.

I heard they're searching waterways in Merced County now. Don't know if they've been there before.

I finally saw a picture of Ron Grantski, the stepfather. He's a general contractor. What with him and her father, Dennis Rocha, I am beginning to wonder if they might arrest Scott now, just for Scott's protection.

I'm not accusing her stepfather and father of wanting to hurt him, it's just that now that Scott's affair is out of the bag, there are probably at least a few thoughts churning around in the heads of various family members--and I wouldn't blame them for thinking it.

They may be able to make a circumstantial case against him, but without a corpus delicti, without a witness to either the murder or the disposal of the body, and without a confession, it could be a difficult case to gain a conviction.

A defense layer can "explain away" blood stains on the floor (she cut herself using a knife in the kitchen while preparing food...) and used the mop to clean the blood that spilled on the floor... (you get the picture.)

Unless he involved his femme fatale in the plot or admitted his involvement to her it could be a sticky wicket!

I said from the beginning he was the culprit and that it involved either sex or money or both. Looks like it was both.

I can't imagine how he could have kept the girlfriend(s) secret from Laci forever. He must have given her some lame excuses for his absences and credit card bills. There may have been the obligatory girl friend phone calls listed on the cell phone bills or the mysterious "no one there" house calls and hangups. And of course one can't forget the "gifts" he probably bought her (Laci probably wondered where all the money was going??) and the cost of frequent restaurants etc.

When he used the "fishing" excuse (on Christmas Eve NO LESS!) for the umpteenth time she probably either blew her stack or called him on it or both.

It was crisis time for old Scott. Here he had been stringing this girlfriend along, the sex was great, and hot, and illicit and he just couldn't let that go.

On the other hand (and please pardon me here women of FR) here he was in the prime of his life about to be ball and chained to a wife and kid forever. Laci was petite but her pregnancy had changed her appearance. She wasn't "physically appealing" to Scotty-boy anymore.

And the kid. His whole life and daily routine were about to change. No more running off at every chance to bounce the bedsheets with his lover. Nope. Ol' Scotty would now have to be home the majority of the time changing diapers, nurturing a child he may not have wanted, all the while thinking about that set of 36 D's just a couple towns over.

This may have been an argument that took a decided turn for the worse. One can only speculate but perhaps she slapped him in disgust, or flailed away at him in her anguish. I mean just look at this boy. He's twice as big as her and built like a fireplug from what I can tell. He may have lost it and started beating her and continued until she was dead. Of course there is always a knife here and there in the kitchen that might have come in handy.

Poor Laci. First cuckolded (I know it's the HUSBAND of an adulteress but I thought I would just turn it around) and then murdered in a fit of rage by the adulterer. It's not a pretty thought.

He should have strangled her. No blood. But I don't suppose he was in any logical frame of mind at the time of the killing.

So what do you do with the body? A fresh grave in the valley? After all, some farmer, hunter, hiker might eventually stumble across it even in the the most remote of places. And then there are always the wild animals. You would have to dig the grave very deep. It would take time. You might be seen. It would be risky.

Water hides a body from casual sight. If weighted down sufficiently it will not float or be moved by tides. Only a large scale underwater seach would have a chance of discovering her body. In the dead of night he might have been able to drop her anywhere.

Personally, I'd vote for water. Although the boat and fishing story would help throw the police off the scent if he chose a fresh grave. Always suspect the husband first. It's where the motive is.

So what do you do with the body?

I said he probably put her body in a dumpster, outside of the immediate Modesto area.

Apparently he was planning his fishing trip for quite awhile....my guess is since summer, when he took out the life insurance policy on his wife for $250K

Well, that all depends on the policy. Plus, if he did it for the money, you need a body or else it's pretty difficult to collect.

>>Yeah, if he's the primary breadwinner, the large insurance should be on HIM, not her<<

I disagree.

My wife is at home with three small kids, and I work all day.

She is insured for replacement costs, which are huge.

BTW, Scotty is guilty. But not because of the insurance.

Archivist saves and squirrels away each and every discussion forum message. Do you remember having a bad day back in 1996 when in one of your messages you may have said a few things that were...well, perhaps a little...hasty? Don't worry, Archivist still has it and will post it to the forum if you begin to get the upper hand in battle.

. . . Scotty is guilty. But not because of the insurance.

Well, as far as the life insurance, there are cases, of course, where individuals (a father in the program I saw) take out policies with the intent to do harm to the person insured.....I'm not saying that this incident is conclusive proof or evidence that SP murdered his wife, it's just that this in addition to the other things make it appear that his motivations to take out such a large policy were not, perhaps, pure....

I don't think he did it for the insurance, either. I think he wanted a "fresh start".
