LACI PETERSON UPDATE- 1-14-03
Fox News- On The Record

Van Sustren interviewed 20 year Berkley Bay fisherman Craig Stone. Stone said that nothing about what Scott Peterson did on the fishing trip to Berkley Bay seemed out of the ordinary to him from a fishing viewpoint. The bait was appropriate and available. The sturgeon were available. The boat size was not unusual. The optimal fishing area was not far off shore. The fish are prized but not easily caught. The time of day peterson was fishing was appropriate. It all seemed plausable to him.

Well, obviously Peterson bribed the fisherman and is having an affair with his mother-in-law. ;-)

Perhaps someone who was desperate for a baby abducted this woman. After giving birth the woman will be killed. Dreadful theory but we have more than our share of dreadful "people" stalking our country.

If that is the case then lets hope she is found before the baby is born. Horrible but possible.

Everyone seems to be ready to hang this guy based solely on innuendo. The fishing trip was not that unusual, the wife was nearly TWO months away from delivery, not two weeks which seems to be the prevailing knowledge here for some reason, and his decision to hire counsel and not take a polygraph aren't that unusual either (he's quite obviously a suspect, so why wouldn't you want a lawyer?). I'm keeping an open mind as to SP's involvement, but I'm not going looking for things that aren't there. So far, none of his actions suggest to me he is involved. He may be, but if he is, he's playing it cool as a cucumber.

FR is full of people who *always* jump to the conclusion that the husband/or who ever is closest, did it, evidence or no evidence. They will say they do that because the person 'acted funny on TV' or 'didn't act like they would', in that situation. I heard this mans mother say he has lost 15 lbs & cries all the time since his wife's disappearance. That indicates to me, he is terribly hurt about his wifes disappearance, someone else will come to the conclusion that he is guilty. I am also keeping an open mind.

My worst nightmare is that my X gets beaten, raped or murdered by a boyfriend.
They won't find him but they'll have me cuffed within an hour.
Maybe the guy did it... maybe not. The cops look at him a suspect #1.

(Open up! It's the police!)

I don't really think there is that strong an argument against the husband, but it is only natural to suspect him first.
In the next couple of weeks, everyone will be on the husband's side if the police don't find any new evidence. I just hope the police have been doing their jobs and interviewing everyone in the neighborhood where the wife may have walked the dog.
Were any of the neighbors outside during the time, she was going to walk the dog? How safe a neighborhood is it? Any unusual suspects hanging around the neighborhood?

The husband was the last one to see her alive. Nobody else saw her at all from about 8pm on the 23rd - twelve hours before she vanished. The husband went "fishing" within an hour of her disappearance. No Witnesses saw either of them. The Modesto police have eliminated over 200 sex offenders as suspects but not the husband. Everyone in the family has come forward to plead for her safe return except the husband. Christmas Eve, over eight months pregnant, kind of late to leave for fishing, he never even called her. Sorry folks. It's a bit more than fishy.

Why, you sound as though you had been hanging around the Elizabeth Smart threads, hee hee.
To: Devil_Anse
LOL Its the same on all of them, have you noticed? E. Smart, C Levy, D Van Dam etc. There is always the chorus of "he didn't cry enough (or cried to much), or "did you see her makeup, she did it" or any such claptrap & they think they come off sounding so clever. Maybe this guy did do his wife in but I'll hold off on judgement for a while.

Right! Watching what internet posters have done to Ed Smart would make anyone unlucky enough to have such a tragedy think twice before even letting a news crew get near him.
Maybe Scott Peterson heard some of the coverage of the Smart case.

The Peterson case caught my interest for some reason and even though I think the husband is probably involved I see a lot of what you say in many of the posters. Most of us are lucky that we have never had to deal with something like this personally so it is impossible to state how we would act under the same circumstances and all people are different and don't have the same reaction.

You are exactly right! You don't know how you will react to tragedy until you have one of your own.

I could care less if the husband does or doesn't cry....fact is he has not taken a LDT....
if a family member goes missing...first thing you do if you want to find her/him is you eliminate yourself as a suspect so the cops can go find the real culprit....
that is not what the husband is doing here...
the husband, who lost 15 pounds poor thing....the husband is not helping the cops...he has not taken a LDT...and instead of begging for the return of his beloved wife on the TV...he slinks around in the background...
statistically...the husband is a logical suspect of this crime...that and the fact that he is not cooperating and his albi is flimsy make him an excellant suspect...
so its normal for most men to go on an adventure on Christmas Eve when your wife is pregnant and far along, when there would be ton of things to do in preparation for Christmas Eve and Christmas day celebrations?????
so here is a question if anybody knows....what did scott get Laci for Christmas?

so here is a question if anybody knows....what did scott get Laci for Christmas?Good question, but only relevant if he planned her "disappearance". If it was accidental, then there would have been presents under the tree for her. I can see an argument getting out of hand, rather than premeditated.
To: zygoat
"...desperate for a baby..."Not at all far-fetched, zygoat. In fact, it's just as likely that she was snatched by baby sellers whose interest was strictly commercial. There is no shortage of monsters in people suits.

The fact that he hasn't taken a LDT means nothing to me. Keep in mind the cops are zeroing in on him from the start. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't take the LDT either. They are useless. The only thing a LDT can do is persuade the criminals with low intellect to spill the beans, and that's all they are used for. They are in-admissable in court for a reason, and the reason is they are notoriuosly unreliable. I agree that SP is a prime suspect, as well he should be taking into consideration he was the last to see her, etc. But if I'm in his shoes, no way I take a lie detector either. How many times have you heard that a lie detector test was inconclusive? Inconclusive equals guilty, and you can bet a weeks pay that any info derived from a LDT WILL almost certainly be leaked to the press.
Like I said, he and his whereabouts need to be investigated vigorously, but all other leads must be checked out just as thoroughlly. Now, having said all of that, do you really think that if he went in and took a LDT and passed, that he would be dropped as a suspect?
