CALL YOUR SENATORS -- TELL THEM GOP WON THE ELECTION -- GOP COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN NEEDED ASAP
For those of you that may not know, the DemocRATs in control of the Senate Minority led by ms. clinton (don't be fooled by anyone -- she is calling the shots) have decided not to recognize the results of the last election and are maintaining Committee Chairmanship until the Republicans give them what they want.
The Memo below from Roll Call in October laid out their plans. What the DemocRATs did not expect was a Republican controlled Senate so now they are refusing to vote on a continuing resolution to keep the Government running and thus hand over control of the Senate Committees. It is to try and force Republicans to cave into their demands or Republicans will get no Committee Chairmanships. What they want is equal funding for Committees and 50/50 shared committees which is not an option.
There is a thread running about the Senate actions today at:
EVERYONE SHOULD BE WATCHING C-SPAN2
Right now we have 11 newly elected Senators that do not have Committee assignments because of this DemocRAT Obstructionist tactic.
Call your DemocRAT Senators (you have my sympathy) and let them know as a taxpayer you will not tolerate this stunt of theirs to withhold Committee Chairmanships from Republicans. Remind them that there are 11 new Senators without Committees and you are holding them responsible for this attempt on the part of the DemocRATs to hijack the Senate!
If you have Republican Senators, call them and tell them to keep up the fight and that we are behind them 100%!
Please call your Senators now. If you would like their phone numbers, you can find them at:

Thanks!

lol!!! Too funny.
The balance of the Senate Comittie makup is second only to the makup of the Supreme Court in shaping policy. The rats know this, but pubs keep playing nice.
How many times will Lucy (democrats) pull the ball away before Charlie Brown (pubbies) kicks her instead?

Better yet...let them keep doing it.
The 'rats have learned nothing from the last elections.
War in Iraq soon and North Korea threaten to turn our cities to seas of flame...what do the 'rats do...Obstruct.
It is the 'rats seething rage against it's own country that Amreican voters are opening their eyes too.

And the only reason they had the deal before was because Jeffords, the turncoat, gave them the Chairmanships not some election. When it was a 50/50 split before the turncoat they had the sharing agreement put in place because of Mccain and Lott.
This is now back to a regular election where Republicans assumed control. The gavels should be handed over right away!

Finally, tonight on Brit's News show, the republican senators are on, explaining what's going on, what's holding up the business of the senate. Until tonight, I did not know the seriousness of what was going on. When Russert asked Frist when the committees would be ready for business, Frist said that very night. Today on Imus, two days later, Frist said, a deal was close, but on neither show did Frist blast the democrats unconstitutional effort to retain control of the Senate, and he sure didn't sound angry.
Frist and the Republicans sure better stand up to the democrats on this. It's a test..an important one..to see what Frist is made of.
Thanks for this thread.

what the demos are asking for is the same deal they gave to Republicans according to the demos I heard speak. If their lips were moving, they were lying.
They did not GIVE the Republicans that deal. Trent Lott, who I was starting to feel sorry for, gave that deal to the dems when it was a 50-50 Senate, even though we HAD the majority with Cheney's vote. Then Jeffords jumped the aisle in the middle of the year, and rather than start all over again the Dems decided to keep the funding the same as the Republicans had given them.
Stupid Lott. Stupid, stupid, stupid Lott. You can not EVER EVER do one single tiny thing that benefits a Democrat in any way, for any reason, because they will scream that you've just set a precedent and demand the same favor be given over and over forever. If Thune or Terrell had won and we had 52 Republican senators, they'd be screaming that the funding shouldn't change because 52-48 is so close to 51-49. And somehow they'd make everyone think that was fair.
To: hellinahandcart
In retro-spect you should be happy Lott made that deal.
It made it impossible for the 'rats to have 2/3-1/3 when Jeffords jumped.

In retro-spect you should be happy Lott made that deal. Well, I'm not.
Splitting the funds 50-50 didn't get us one conservative judge appointed, did it? In fact it got us nothing but our hand bitten. If we'd stuck to 2/3-1/3, they might have demanded that when Jeffords jumped, but we'd have it back now and they'd have nothing to use as a weapon today. Lott and McPain gave them the weapon.
But I blame Lott the most.

Sure wish I had some one other than Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to callSucks dont it Ive got Jim Mcdermott as well.

McDermott? Jeez. I've got Hillary and I'd have to think hard about a swap here.
Face it, there are just too many Democrats in the Senate, and about 45 of them are accursed nuisances.

We will have it back soon and the 'rats will have a black eye for it.
