Not sure where one could get such beans, conisidering they aren't good for eating.
But they are supposedly easy to get one's hands on.
I honestly don't know, since I haven't tried.
(If I do, I'll let FR know. But from what I've heard, it's too easy. Didn't a samll shipment of castor beans go missing in the US southwest recently?)

The Ricin comes from the beans husk, after one is done processing the bean for the oil. Beyond that... the info is on the net. I don't recommend looking it up. With recent stories going the rounds, don't need law abiding info hogs like us getting nabbed as terrorists while the real perps thumb their noses at the Feds.

Bilderburgers? Well, it depends on my mood. I like them on a light rye bun with carmelized onions and a slice of aged cheddar. Sometimes I like them with a thin slice of Vidalia with lettuce and vine-ripened tomato.

Just make sure the french fries are nice and crispy, okay?

Years ago, my Mother used to plant castor beans when danger of frost was over in S. Dak.
The plant was lush, tropical looking and fast growing. She did tell us that we shouldn"t taste the beans because they were poisonous. So glad I wasn't defiant or into negative reactions.

Yeah.
Just wish the press would figure that out.
Lately, they've been more helpful to the other side than to us. (Lately? I'd better try ALWAYS.)

I always wanted to plant nightshade, monkshood, and foxgloves.
Until someone told me I'd have idiot kids eating the stuff...
But nightshade does have a nice bloom on it.
(I was told I'm the only guy people know of whose garden would be a death patch. Needless to say, I'm looked at funny for that. So I only grow roses.)

Many many plants that we grow in our home gardens are terribly toxic to both animals and kids. Get a good horticultural guide for a list of the most common ones.

Remember that plants produce some of the deadliest stuff on earth. And alkaloids (sp?)...caffiene, chocolate, heroin, cocaine, sugar, just about everything that messes up a human brain comes from a plant.

Happy gardening freepers!

I know.
But I tend to lean towards those I listed.

Amyrillis is toxic, as are othjer bulbed plants we tend to handle carelessly all too often. Poinsettia are also toxic.
And for real fun, Bleeding Heart. (Great gift for those Libs we all know?)

Chocolate consumption releases endorphins. The only other times the human body releases endorphins is after excersise, or sex.

Ever notice how some of the prettiest plants are the most toxic? (Nightshade, nice red bloom... awful alkoloid toxin.)

From experience of posting on FR, I have learned that whenever you don't agree with some of these people on an issue, they always call you "paranoid." Happened to me just yesterday.

Yeah.
Isn't it great to be loved?

I still can't believe I'd said to worry about Ricin months ago, and now (Only now) the FBI is saying it too.

Here's one place you can order them. Cornell has a good site on the bean and the ricin. Another site, for vets, states that the seeds are up to 3% ricin, which is huge, I think you could effectively poison folks just by grinding up the beans and substituting it for some of the flour in breads, rolls, etc, if the poison isn't destroyed by the baking process. Another site states that 3 seeds can kill an adult. The plant is native to Africa and India, but is often used as an ornamental and has become "naturalised" over much of the south. IOW, it grows wild. The oil, which is the only non-toxic part, has long been used as a laxitive and was used as a lubricant, including mixing it with aviation gasoline in the early days of aviation, during WW-I for example. Seeds or started plants should be available at your garden store. I found one site that would sell you 10 seeds for $2, onther had 10 for $1.25 These of course are for ornamental purposes, for agricultural quantities, I suspect the costs are much lower per seed. However a California state site indicated that growing them is very labor intensive, because unlike wheat, milo or soybeans, they don't all ripen at once, so they have to be picked by hand. This means that they are mostly grown in very low labor cost areas, like India for example. Thus getting large quantities of seeds/beans might take some doing, and would surely raise supicions, unless you were a garden seed dealer.

The bulletin said U.S. experts believe ricin is ineffective as an aerosol-based weapon.

From http://www.phls.co.uk/topics_az/deliberate_release/pdf/ricin_guidelines.pdf

• Accidental poisoning with ricin has occurred following ingestion of castor oil seeds. Although ricin is poorly absorbed following ingestion, one to three beans chewed by a child, or as few as eight seeds chewed by an adult may be fatal.
• Ricin has been considered as a potential chemical warfare agent. Although non-volatile, aerosols may be inhaled.
There appears to be some disagreement among the experts, but let's hope we don't have to find out who is right.

these ba$tard$ won't stop until they get wiped themselves. Regardless of whether we hit Iraq or not, they still won't stop.

I couldn't agree more.

We need to hit Iraq to destroy one source of funding and WMDs, as well as to give us some leverage with the Saudis and others, but the hardcore nutjobs won't stop until they're all dead. There is nothing we can do but kill them or be killed. They've made that choice for us.
