Years ago, my Mother used to plant castor beans when danger of frost was over in S. Dak.
The plant was lush, tropical looking and fast growing. She did tell us that we shouldn"t taste the beans because they were poisonous. So glad I wasn't defiant or into negative reactions.

I always wanted to plant nightshade, monkshood, and foxgloves.
Until someone told me I'd have idiot kids eating the stuff...
But nightshade does have a nice bloom on it.
(I was told I'm the only guy people know of whose garden would be a death patch. Needless to say, I'm looked at funny for that. So I only grow roses.)
