You mean I shouldn't be writing to my congressman to demand representative leadership for the special needs of those of Dutch/Cherokee descent?
The problem is that the core message that we've been dealing with over the years from the leftists have their source (at least in the black community) in the pulpit!
The unspoken mantra over the years is that you don't dare challenge what is brought forth to you from the pulpit! And where do the real problem children of this whole message hide? In the pulpit!
Rev. Jesse Jackson; Rev. Al Sharpton; and on and on. Of course, we ask the appropriate questions, but it's a bit difficult to counter what has been historically drummed in and reenforced over the years.
Historically, the truth, the knowledge, the education was supported and reenforced by the church in general and the local preacher in particular. If your pastor says it; if your pastor says that this other preacher is saying the right things, then it must be OK. And since most preachers feel that Jackson & Sharpton are doing the "right things," then they pass that message on to their congregation.
This works in the reverse as well. There are some conservative black ministers whose message is starting to get out around the nation: KirbyJon Caldwell from Houston, Carlton Pearson from Tulsa, Fred Price in Los Angeles (whose television program, "Ever Increasing Faith," is seen nationally on TBN and on other stations) are the core of decent numbers of black preachers who are starting to see the light and who are telling their congregations the truth.
It takes time; we are still learning to crawl in that regard. But we'll get there. Everyone has to be patient, but vigilant. Be willing to work. When questions are asked, you can point to men like that; to men like Kevin Martin (Trueblackman); to men like Shannon Reeves (Party Secretary for the California GOP and president of the Oakland NAACP).
Most of all, keep the faith. We will survive and succeed.
A large part of the problem is that fear has been instilled in black America.
Fear, which makes us out to be the "big, bad, boogieman." Fear which has some intelligent, smart black folks truly believing that the GOP has a goal of putting blacks back into slavery. Do you realize that most of the black middle class finds it hard to consider themselves in that mainstream group? That as a result of the innuendo and lies told on television and radio daily, that they feel that they will not benefit from the tax cuts proposed by the Administration?
Those lies are propagated by the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of the world; and by the mainstream media who uses that medium to continue to portray us in that fashion. And as long as we allow those lies to go out unchecked, the perception will continue to be reeforced in the minds of black America.
We have no business allowing Jesse Jackson to spread our message. I don't want that, do you? But as sure as I'm writing this, he is doing exactly that, because we don't counter his lies; we don't call him on the carpet for destroying our name and image in the mainstream. We certainly call Hillary! on it when she does; we call mealy mouthed columnists like Arriana Huffington on it when she does it - why can't we do it with Jesse Jackson?
And I don't mean the insults flying like we all do (and yes, I'm just as guilty of it as the next guy). I'm talking about addressing his lies point by point, as he tells them, to the audience he's addressing. Taking the messages directly into his face and daring him to keep it up. It's not pretty, but it's gotta be done.
Why are they not insulted? Because of fear and anger. Am I insulted? Damn right. Every damned day. And that's why I do what I do to counter it.
Why are the lies allowed to go unchecked? I don't mean just the Jesse Jackasses and Al Sharptons either. I don't get why Republicans are not out there on the offense exposing the rampant lies of the racist RATS and calling them on them. It's not like there is a shortage of them. Why are WE not raising these issues in the national media instead of waiting for them to raise and then running and cowering, once again intimidated into going along to "prove" that WE are not the party of racism?
Those are questions for the party leadership. The strategy must be included as a part of the direction for the party in and of itself, not only on a state/local level, but on a national level. But until this point is realized, the problems will remain.
But know this - Where I can, I do ask the questions and issue the challenges. That is how I plant the seeds in the minds of many - simply by asking the questions. Those who listen and hear what I'm saying begin to connect the dots; begin to logically analyze the situation themselves. I'm the Johnny Appleseed, if you will.
Keep up the good work. And don't dismiss the idea of running for office.
I wonder, does it require a black person to counter the lies, or can a white speaker reach as many and as effectively?
Thanks, I was curious!! LOL.
"We" would ALL rather do without all the hyphens -- trouble is the hyphen works. It works in the context of it's extortion potential as we have seen.
It is understood to be part and parcel a voting bloc; In theory, the difference in a candidates margin of victory or defeat; a company's margin of profit or loss.
As long as there are politicians and CEOs willing to cave in to blackmail while pandering to any group represented by very LOUD and obnoxious "spokespeople," there will remain forevermore the "hyphen."
Yes, and it is a requirement.
I can yell until my head falls off about the lies. But I will be easily dismissed. However, if prominent whites brought these lies out front and center, it would reach a larger audience and force the issue to be looked at seriously.
Sure, charges of "racism" will abound. But we know this going into the situation. Still, get these lies out in the open and keep hammering away at them. It will bear fruit.

You got that right. I think that double standard is what infuriates people more than the racisim itself.
The funny thing about politics is that everything is relative. Some politicians are simply immune to some tactics, for instance, no one is going to "Uncle Tom" someone like boxing promoter Don King.
Good post. I appreciate your thoughts. I still don't understand though why so many black folks are so unwilling to hear the truth or are so unable to recognize it when they do. It just makes no sense to me. The fact that the RATS in Washington will give someone like Byrd a pass, no matter how outrageous his words or actions are, while using a nonissue such as Lott's comment to try and crucify an entire party and to try and gain leverage to control the party from the sidelines is beyond hypocrisy. I am thinking they have really been overplaying their hand when it comes to race and others will be responding in much the same way I have been of late. That is to say, in a discussion if someone tries to turn a discussion on values or laws or fairness or whatever else into one of race, I basically take the attitude that "I don't really care what you think." As far as I'm concerned, racebaiting is as ugly as racism and has no place in honest dialogue.
I like your tag line btw.
The irony and the outrage is that is how things SHOULD be. Playing a racist in a movie should NOT get one labeled as a racist in real life.
But the rub here is that you and I both know that if Trent Lott (or any Republican) had played that same movie role that our completely biased press and TV media would have skewered him, lynched him, condemned him, and hung him out to dry so that they could then repeat all of the above.
It's that double-standard that is such a killer. Technically, we shouldn't care that no one criticized Byrd for a role in a movie. Heck, we should probably applaud the press for not making an issue where there shouldn't be one.
It's just that we know that the media only does the right thing in that case due to the Party affiliation of the actor, and that the press would turn on a dime if a Republican Senator did the self-same thing.
With a Democrat, the press just sees an actor in a movie role. With a Republican, the press would see "hidden motives" and deep, "subconcious racism"...
I'm in no way disregarding a call from on high to lead. However, if I am a leader of anyone, I feel sorry for my followers outside of my family. I say that because I don't know what I'm gonna do half the time.
Spontaneity is not the hallmark of a good leader. But at least I'm honest!
And it drives my wife nuts, too.
