Why black conservatives are maligned
TNA News with Commentary Thursday 1 February 2001
Bryant Pearson, writing in The Black Turncoat Forum BBS, asks why conservative blacks are so maligned simply for having a point of view different from the normal black person. He wrote: When we conservative blacks speak up for what we believe why are we treated like weve done something wrong. I believe that we have a shot to change how blacks in America will vote in 4 years if we get together and work hard at changing the minds of many in our community.
Bryant, we are maligned because all liberals instinctively feel that no black person is capable of such independent thought or activity. When we encounter a liberal black, he succumbs to the playground mentality and thinks of us as self hating Uncle Toms or just acting white. If that doesnt reveal how he really feels about independent minded blacks, nothing does.
They are actually envious of our ability to develop and articulate ideas, philosophies and actions apart from the normal black culture, and must try to make themselves more important by trying to make us less relevant. Even white liberals, when opposed by conservative blacks, tend to think of us as fronts for some white person or group, or they consider us as tokens. Worst of all, they consider liberal blacks as needing leaders. I have never heard anyone mention a white leader or a black conservative leader.
The fact is neither black nor white conservatives need leaders, and the same for white liberals, but black liberals do, and most people think that all blacks do. This is the myth initiated by white liberals and perpetuated by black ones. What we black conservatives must do is become proactive in spreading the conservative message. We must speak and act ahead of the curve, before someone else has begun the battle that we know must be joined long before they do.
We must not only let blacks know that we are here and we are viable, but we must let everyone know that not all of us dance to the same tune as played by the race hustling poverty pimps, otherwise known as black leaders. If you look at the leaders in the white community, you see many individuals with leadership skills acting together to achieve a common goal. There is no one particular leader, other than the one(s) chosen by the participants themselves to run the show, whereas black liberals will accept whatever loudmouth or show off who declares himself or is declared by the media as black leader (read my own declaration written in 1994).
The at large conservative community, black and white has many leaders, each with his or her own special contribution to the effort.
Black liberals are quite content to sit by and watch someone else take the initiative, fight the battle, and tell us all about it in the process. Black conservatives must take care not to allow others to take the initiative for a battle that we must lead, and that is the battle to establish ourselves as not just followers of some white guy who is fighting for us. If we fall into that trap, then we are no different from the black liberals, which puts all of us into the same boat, which is that none of us are capable of carrying our own weight in our own battle.
*Stephen Frazier runs the very politically incorrect The Black Turncoat Forum site.
One can be an educated fool, and it is getting easier and easier with the continuing trend that favors less competent blacks by virtue of the fact that they're black and discriminates against whites who may be better qualified. This undermines all students, black or white, who worked to get where they are. To add insult to injusry, it now seems that the liberals aren't happy to just dumb down the public schools to the lowest common denominator and are carrying it over to the university system. Pretty soon, any dummy will be able to get a college degree so why should anyone strive for excellence?
I see it here on FR. Some people here are as touchy and politically correct as the liberals they claim to despise, but just try to point it out and they come unglued.
And if you dared to try you would immediately be branded a racist by those very people who talk about black leadership. Not only that, they would also fail to see any hypocrisy in it.
98% of children under 12 are "liberal"--which happens to be the same percentage who can't manage to clean up after themselves.
As one of those "well-meaning posters," I still maintain leadership IS needed in a battle where the traditional Dem/GOP ratio is 90%-10%; flag must be carried into this battle, whether by uncompromised deed or word, but eventually it MUST be done.
Yes, we are "individuals," but the grip and cycle of liberal indoctrination and hypnosis of the many must first be broken, must it not?
Black conservatism is amidst their own culture war. "Leadership" helps define these battlelines and devises a strategy for winning the minds and souls of those who deserve discern the truth for themselves -- and with it their own destiny.
Sorry, I forgot to turn my 'pager' on earlier. We agree on this.
A woman too! Some days that's about all I accomplish! LOL.
Good summation on the overall black presidential candidate conservative panorama.
IMHO, Blacks have been used more as a tool than a friend by the Democrats over the past 25 years.
It is difficult to reverse so many years of political engrained habit, but Blacks need to break out of that mold and realize that conservatism is a viable (and desirable) alternative to socialism.
From your mouth to God's ears! That is so apparent here in Atlanta. The black "leaders" here have led their followers down the road to deceit and corruption. I have often wondered what will open these folks' eyes to how they have been misled and will continue to be.
I was hoping that the "overthrow" of the McKinney "leadership" (more like "dictatorship") would open some eyes. Unfortunately, it seems to have had the opposite effect with many clamoring for and demanding a lawsuit.
Even Mayor Shirley Franklin who is a democrat and who has kept every pre-election promise of exposing and remedying wasteful city spending has had her share of harsh criticism from black democrats who preferred living under the false wealth of Campbell corruption.
It takes a very long time to make people aware that following the path of least resistance can ultimately be harmful. I can only hope that people like you rdb3, along with mhking, trueblackman and others will continue your tireless efforts to break the generations-old bad habits.
I'm living proof that it can be done! My parents are died-in-the-wool Massachusetts democrats who now live in FL. I started out to be just like them....until .45MAN (and Klintoon the buffoon") showed me the light!"
Thank-you for the ping, sweetliberty. This is an important issue!
I've said this selfsame thing on numerous occasions. Black people don't need leaders.
Some well-meaning posters have stated that there needs to be a new "leadership" among American blacks. But this goes against the grain of what conservatism (post) is all about: individuality.
Lastly, it is also indicative of just how pervasive Leftist thinking truly has become. We argue using their language and their own tools. Squash that! It's a new day.
So I submit to you and all other conservatives (post) in the nation this one thing concerning race issues, and that is to cease and desist using the enemies' tools which will be used against us. Do not use their language, thinking, or terms. Reject their ways, also, by discontinuing thinking of us as a group. Individual blacks are responsible for their successes and failures just like every other American is responsible for theirs. Refer to these as they are.
In short, apply all aspects of conservatism (post) to black people as you would to white. It's just that simple
So well stated...it's worth repeating...thank you.
I am sure you have a whole bunch of support from the rest of us. Go get em, and be sure to place those genuine US Army jump boots square in someone's hind quarters.
