They are also saying that there are people on the ground unaccounted for that were working in the hangar.

Also, news station is reporting that a Clemson student was on that flight.

I went to Clemson and took this US Air flight many times.
With the start of the new semester, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out there were a number of students on board.

Sounds like a classic engine out, below Vmc accident.

I agree. That's choice #1. Can't completely rule out wake turbulence though. I would have never guessed it until I was in it once. That made me a believer.

The crash comes after a year in which there were no commercial airline fatalities in the United States, federal officials said.

Yep, flying is safer than crossing a street.

Stupid Schiavo on Fox just said it could be a combination of factors like the AA 587...wake turbulence and mechanical. Yeah right.

Actually, I heard her statements - and they were right on. I am pilot for a major US airline (based in CLT) and Schiavo does a pretty good job - she knows a lot more than the average technocrat.

It is likely an engine fail with VMC problem on this underpowered piece of junk.

"So what you're saying is, .8 was enough?"

More than enough to hand it back to the PIC and say "You got her!"

I love my Silver Eagle Cessna 210, but flying a blimp for a living, with takeoffs and landings every .5 like they do on most VIP flights, no way. Like the air taxis in Alaska; water operations every .5? No way! Not for this old boy!

There was a 11 day blimp flight once. Anti-sub patrol. Winds were blowing in the right direction and speed, so they just shut everything off and drifted! Too bad it was before women were added to air crews.

Thanks for your help. I called the number, but they couldn't tell me too much. All they did was take down my information and promise to call me if they found out anything.

Unfortunately I don't have their itinerary. I don't know what airline they were on or have their flight numbers. All I know is that they were supposed to leave Charlotte around 8:00 this morning.

Local spokeswoman for GSP is saying that Red Cross is setting up for families. Some families are just now showing up at airport. Earlier reports said that no one was around to pick up passengers. Prayers for them.

They just said in the press conference that the 3 hangar workers are now accounted for and that no one on the ground was hurt.

Local Charlotte TV (I'm 30 miles north of there) interviewed a food supplier for the airlines there. He said that he saw the plane while it was about 800 feet up with the right wing up and the left wing down, then lost sight of it as it went behind the building from where he was standing. He also said that he heard a terrific roar (but "not like a jet sound") just before it crashed. At that point, he said, he didn't actually see the crash itself.

Poor people and their families.

Yep, flying is safer than crossing a street.

The drive to the airport in your car is the most dangerous part of the trip. If you are in Houston this is very true.

I'm sure it's hard to think clearly right now.....our minds have a hard time coping with sudden news.

Do you have siblings?.....if you do, maybe that would be a source of info.

Other relatives who might know?

Where did they fly in from?....or are they local?

Any good friends you can call who might have information.

I'm praying for you.

Don't know if this helps but this particular flight took off at 8:45 this AM, a little later than your parents' flight was to have taken off. Prayers to you for peace during your search for them and for their safety. Be blessed.

I've got three brothers and three sisters, all in Massachusetts. I'm in Florida, so I'm sure they're all in the same boat I am. My parents have been living near Charlotte and were flying to Arizona.
