The drive to the airport in your car is the most dangerous part of the trip. If you are in Houston this is very true.
I lived in SW Houston for two years ('98 - '00) and never experienced any danger on the freeways (I-10, 45 or 59). I preferred George Bush Int'l Airport to Hobby, even though it was a hell of a drive from Westheimer/Hillcroft.
