Six men were shot to death early Sunday in a home invasion, Edinburg police said. Police believe the assailants were searching for weapons and drugs. A witness, who was tied up during the shooting, told police that one of the assailants wore some clothing that carried the word "police" on it.
Police had made no arrests late Sunday afternoon, Sgt. Rey Ramirez said.
Five people were found dead in one house and another person dead in a second house on the same property, Ramirez said.
Police were called to the rural scene by the survivor. Neighbors reported hearing shots fired but did not see anything, Ramirez said.
Ramirez said police believe there were four to five armed intruders.
The names of the victims were not released Sunday night. Ramirez said police knew two of the victims from a previous investigations. He did not have information on what type of investigations.

A drug hit more than likely. You would think a mass murder like this would make it on the national news as in fox or cnn. Nothing short of drug dealer terrorism. TV news hounds are all too busy talking about Laci Peterson.

Where the criminals end and the police begin (and vice versa) has been murkey of late in these parts.
For the sake of the rule of law in my beloved south Texas, I trust that line was not crossed in this very odd (and 30 miles from home) crime.

And only 10 miles from my home. Not the magic valley anymore. More like the tragic valley.

Not quite as bad as the St.
Valentineds Day Massacre, but similarities are there.
There was a time when I would have assumed a crime in progress if I saw men in black, wearing ski masks and carrying machine guns breaking into a neigbors house and gunning them down in cold blood. Nowadays, I'd probably just assume it was another routine law enforcement action ... You know, too many unpaid parking tickets or something.

I wonder if there's some kind of drug lord war thing going on because there were 3 assassinated here and 2 in Parral or Delicias (I think) the other day.

The bodies of three men were discovered Friday morning in the parking lot of a business in the Bermúdez Industrial Park in north Juárez, Mexican authorities said.
The Chihuahua state attorney general's Zeus police task force is investigating the homicides, which officials initially said appeared to be related to drugs.
Police said each of the three men was blindfolded, bore torture marks on his body and had an index finger cut off. Juárez medical examiners said the men were strangled. They were in a green 2002 Durango sport utility vehicle that was left at the Smufit, Cartón y Papel business, which is behind the XHJUB TV Channel 56 studio.
Authorities had not identified them late Friday.

I'll bet that the home invaders yelled "Police! Everybody down!" as they barged through the door. The only difference in this crime and a no-knock is that these thugs didn't have any badges.

It's a drug revenge thing. Somebody didn't pay somebody.
Edinburg is actually a fairly nice town, although this apparently was an adjacent rural property.
We could shut down the narcotrafficers and these kinds of killings by legalizing many of these drugs, but I guess that's for a different thread. Instead, it's just another story of criminals killing criminals.

Police were called to the rural scene by the survivor. I don't think the survivor would have called the police if the police were who did it.

It was mentioned on FOX, at the time they said it was possibly drug related.

Sounds like an AR-15 and a twenty round magazine would have been extremely useful. Or perhaps six double ought shells in a Benelli.

Which proves two things: I should read a little slower and TWO! I don't trust the police. What can I say...
