Saddam to deliver speech on Monday; Iraqi forces carry out war games around Baghdad
05-01-2003
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein will deliver a televised speech on Army Day Monday, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
"The president will deliver a pan-Arab and historic speech tomorrow at 11 a.m. to the people of Iraq and members of our brave armed forces on the 82nd anniversary of the Iraqi Army," the agency said Sunday.
Meanwhile, a civilian militia that could be a bulwark in defending Baghdad against a possible U.S. invasion has carried out a war game designed to block an enemy force attacking from several directions, an Iraqi newspaper reported Sunday.
The official daily Al-Iraq said the people's militia of al Baath Party conducted the combat drill Saturday in Babil province, directly south of Baghdad. Militiamen practiced deceiving an attacking enemy and fighting in urban and rural areas, the paper said.

"The president will deliver a pan-Arab and historic speech" Looks like he's assuming power beyond his realm again.

Maybe he is announcing that he is forming an exploratory committee in a possible run for the Democratic presidential ticket in 2004. LOL. Every other loser is. Why not? He'd probably win the democrat primary in a landslide!

They better worry more about getting their funerals in order.

Even if he turned over power to one of his sons and left, it would have little effect on the situation. It would provide the DNC and terrorist organisations some propaganda angles, but that's all. The regime would still be the same regime, it would just have a different figurehead. His sons are guilty of horrendous crimes against humanity themselves, and have pledged blood oaths to fulfil their father's will. Only a truly democratically elected government will satisfy W's policy of regime change.

Saddam Denies Sexual Relations with Iraqi Intern
BAGHDAD, January 06, 2003 - Finally breaking his silence on a controversial story first reported in the New Baghdadi last month about an alleged tryst with the young Iraqi intern Hafeeza (shown above) that occurred in his Crescent Office last year, Saddam Hussein, in a televised address to his people today, denied having any sexual relations with her.

What if he resigns?
I seriously doubt he will do that. But if he does, he will announce that he is going but that Uday or somesuch will be the new President. In other words, somebody we can't accept so he can make us appear to be the ones nixing the deal. He always likes to make us say no.

I'll agree with you. He'll anounce he has WMD and any attack on Iraq will result in the "attempted" nuclear-chemical-biological destruction of Israel and all nations supporting US forces in the gulf region or something along those lines.
Kind of like South Koreas POS president telling USA to leave NK alone because NK could'nt hurt USA but could hit Seoul etc etc. The Iraq question of WMD present or not is moot and just an allowed PC stall. Sort of a "See we really tried to do it peacefully" thang before GW zaps Saddam.
Saddam knows he has nothing to lose anymore as the US buildup screams invasion in three weeks IMHO. All he has working for him now as in the past is fear, lies and propaganda. The speech will spew BS in such a manner IMO.
Again , just my SWAG on the matter. Stay Safe !

I don't know if it is still up on ESPN... but they did a documentary on Uday Hussein torturing athletes. I actually feel safer with Saddam in charge.

I've also heard Pres. Bush say the "weapons of MASS destruction" must go, also....not JUST Saddam.
To: ewing
I called Saddam's apology to Kuwait hours before it happened so lets see if I can go 2-0. Hussein is gonna give a speech reconciling relations with Iran, calling for a new dawn in Middle East geopolitics. He'll also claim that he's giving the Shi'ite minorities in Iraq more religious rights. In affect it will be an attempted diplomatic/military pact with Iran. Then it will be up to Iran to see what happens.
