Here's another (Perennial - check his Rose Bowl stats) sore loser...rolling over in his grave right now.

But the flag didn't come until after the ball passed the receiver.

Because the ball must be catchable to be considered pass interference. If the pass had been 'un-catchable', it wouldn't have been interference. Another reason for the flag coming after the incomplete pass.

Looked like a mugging to me. Up here in the Northland people get jail time for hits like that. :-)

Bad call in the end zone gave them the game.

They didn't call for the initial contact off the line of scrimmage. I am sitting here, and decided to rewatch it again on Tivo. Clearly didn't touch him. Bad thing was, the guy wouldn't have caught it anyway. Again, I'm not a Miami fan, I just hate to see other sports go the way of wrestling and now boxing. The NBA is about there, and the NFL is close behind. Maybe we need replay for the championships games at least.

Because he had a view of the db holding

I thought they called pass interference. I agree that Miami didn't play their best game...too many turnovers, not enough rushing etc., but the replay showed that was a bad call...no question.

Agree. Forget one call. Miami played poorly all night and Ohio State played thier hearts out. State deserved to win-bottom line!

I woulda liked to see Notre Dame win it all...not because I like ND, but because it would make stanfUrd fans upset.

Ohio State got screwed toward the end of the game when a Miami player pulled on a guy's shirt and the ref didn't call a penalty. Can't remember I think it would have given them a first down and Miami may not have gotten the ball back to make a field goal. Glad the Buckeyes prevailed in spite of the blown call by the ref.

Either way it was an automatic first down at about the same spot, Bottom line, Miami let OSU convert a 4th and 14. Also Miami got away with holding with 2:12 left in regulation on 3rd down. First down, OSU may not have punted period.

Live with it!

They didn't call for the initial contact off the line of scrimmage.

That's legal. It's after 5 yds that its illegal.

Bad thing was, the guy wouldn't have caught it anyway

I saw the Miami tight-end make the same catch in OT. Are you sure the ball was uncatchable?

But the flag didn't come until after the ball passed the receiver. If it had been as you describe, it would have already been out.

I'm no expert on the rules, but I don't think the penalty flag and the ball are required to arrive at the same time.....
