Senator: At Least One Foreign Country Assisted the 9/11 Terrorists

Senator: At Least One Foreign Country Assisted the 9/11 Terrorists

Senator Graham knows where the bodies are buried

>>> On 11 December 2002, the Senate and House Intelligence Committees released portions of their joint report on intelligence failures regarding the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, on PBS, reported on the release that day.

After asking her guests a bunch of predictable questions, and receiving predictable answers, guest host Gwen Ifill asked Senator Bob Graham, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, a good question and got an amazing answer.

GWEN IFILL: Senator Graham, are there elements in this report, which are classified that Americans should know about but can't?

SEN. BOB GRAHAM: Yes, going back to your question about what was the greatest surprise. I agree with what Senator Shelby said the degree to which agencies were not communicating was certainly a surprise but also I was surprised at the evidence that there were foreign governments involved in facilitating the activities of at least some of the terrorists in the United States.

I am stunned that we have not done a better job of pursuing that to determine if other terrorists received similar support and, even more important, if the infrastructure of a foreign government assisting terrorists still exists for the current generation of terrorists who are here planning the next plots.

To me that is an extremely significant issue and most of that information is classified, I think overly-classified. I believe the American people should know the extent of the challenge that we face in terms of foreign government involvement. That would motivate the government to take action.

GWEN IFILL: Are you suggesting that you are convinced that there was a state sponsor behind 9/11?

SEN. BOB GRAHAM: I think there is very compelling evidence that at least some of the terrorists were assisted not just in financing -- although that was part of it -- by a sovereign foreign government and that we have been derelict in our duty to track that down, make the further case, or find the evidence that would indicate that that is not true and we can look for other reasons why the terrorists were able to function so effectively in the United States.

GWEN IFILL: Do you think that will ever become public, which countries you're talking about?

SEN. BOB GRAHAM: It will become public at some point when it's turned over to the archives, but that's 20 or 30 years from now. And, we need to have this information now because it's relevant to the threat that the people of the United States are facing today.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I have to point out that none of the cowardly yuppies in the American media has followed up on this bombshell revelation. It seems worthy of banner headlines--"Mystery Nations Aided 9/11 Plot," for example--in the New York Times, on CNN, etc.

After all, here is a powerful US Senator--the Chairman of the committee that oversees intelligence operations, the very committee that issued the report--saying that some country (or countries) actively aided the worst terrorist attack against the US.

To enjoy Lutefisk truly, it must be accompanied by:

Gammelost cheese

Norwegian Goats Milk Cheese

(V = veg rennet, U = Unpasteurised, O = Organic)
Gammelost The name means 'old cheese' and it smells like it! It is made by maturing the cheese in a very damp atmosphere, which applies to most of Norway, then working the mould growth on the outside back into the cheese. It is actually not old but quite a young cheese as it only matures for about a month. Thought to date from Viking times, if you were English and they did not get you with a sword then their breath would kill you! It is blue veined and strong tasting if you can get it past your nose. Norwegians regard it as a delicacy and delight in feeding it to foreigners, going hysterical at their reactions of disgust!

I agree.

Another point is that Sen. Graham characterized this information as surprising. I doubt he would have been very surprised at Saudi or Iraqi involvement. He could, however, have been surprised at Pakistani or Chinese involvement. He might also have been surprised by an alliance between, for example, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

I'm obviously just speculating here, but whatever it is would seem to be something beyond merely saying that there was some involvement on the part of Saudi Arabia or Iraq, since such has been widely rumored and would have been characterized in some way other than a surprise.

"It seems highly unlikely that Iraq or North Korea or Syria would have an infrastructure assisting terrorists in the USA."

The Iraqi intelligence service is known to have a clandestine presence here.

While there is no Iraqi embassy in Washington, like Cuba, there is very probably a mission of some sort. Plus, there is an Iraqi mission to the UN based in New York -- always a good place to insert dark siders.

I hope so too. It seems a good shot, and there being more hopefully is a good thing. We'll certainly see, eventually...and he knows it. I presume he has more interest in posterity than his predecessor, who was evidently more interested in indulging his own posterior.

Don't forget the thousands granted amnesty after Desert Storm, particularly soldiers.

Two were arrested here in Boston after 9/11. One with a suspicious suitcase at the airport. Never made the major news outlets. Both came in the flood of soldiers and others after the ejection of Iraq from Kuwait.

Well...that leaves Norway with Moose, anyway. The questionable cheese, and of course Lutefisk tend to cancel out any strategic advantage I thought they may have had...except as a threat. Doesn't seem a far stretch to weaponize Lutefisk and Gammelost (was this his punishment for losing?!), if it is necessary at all. Typical Bert to find the perfect off-the-usual-grid juggernaut nationality for his play for world domination. We can't even starve them out...and if we're not careful, they may send their products to OUR supermarkets! The fact that they LIKE the stuff is chilling...may be addictive. This makes O'Sama look merciful. The humanity. Rrrrrrrr.

RE: The Saudis.

Never forget that the entire Royal family fled to Switzerland immediately after the 9-11 attack.

They feared we'd come after them.

Why is that info classified??

To keep from embarassing prominent American politicians and their families who are in business with them.

WOW-I didn't know the entire royal (lol-oh sure) family fled to Switzerland immediately after 9/11. That is VERY TELLING.

I too think it is the Saudis-who have been deep in the business of keeping the terrorists off their backs by funneling money to charities which serve as fronts for Osama and his pig pen and other thugs from the similiar gene pool.

And I think the Saudi's know exactly what our higher up President Bush and his team know...and methinks that is why it was announced today that we will be using the royal airport for a base in our upcoming war with Iraq.

The Saudis have balanced their finances and livihoods - realizing that if our government releases what is known about their willingness to payoff genuine monsters in return for their peaceful royal lives going on unfettered, America will kiss um off, big time. Businesses, relationships, everything would go down the tubes.

So now the Saudis must face the wrath of their Wahabi whatevers as opposed to the wrath of America. Good choice.

No,it doesn't. Then again,I don't confuse the Republican Party with America herself,and I don't confuse Bubba-2 with Jesus.

They used their political clout to fly out while the entire civilian U.S. population was grounded.
