This warning was just issued. All Freepers are advised to be very careful during their Holiday travels, especially in airports and in and around jet liners.
Please take care, ex-Texan

Couldn't they just have said, "Do your damn job, TSA!"
We're paying this Band of Barneys plenty enough they shouldn't need remedial instruction on the matter.

FWIW, I flew in and out of DFW last week and virtually all passengers had to remove their shoes which were "wanded" at the security checkpoints.

I second that. All FReepers be careful and and be safe. I am sure they would just love to ruin Christmas.

What really sucks is that if a plane actually gets knocked down by a shoe-bomber, we'll never know. The NTSB will cover it up and blame it on pilot error or structural failure.
When that plane crashed in New York just weeks after Sept. 11th, the government was immediately jumping up and down screaming 'IT WASN'T TERRORISM!!! IT WASN'T TERRORISM!!!' and floating every ridiculous theory imaginable to "prove" it while the crash was still burning.
Our government is getting better at preventing terrorism, but if it actually happens, they'll do anything possible to cover it up.

winter coats and shoes could be used to conceal explosives These people should pay a visit to Fairbanks in the winter. Who knows what is under those parkas and moon boots?

I remember there was a strong market rally immediately following the news that the crash was not the work of terrorists.

Does this mean I could get in trouble if I try to fly while wearing my shoe phone?

A special K9 squad of 10 week old German Shepherd pups should be formed. Even without advanced explosive detector training, they'll find every last shoe in a prescribed area and give it hell!

A stunning 20-second quid-pro-quo ad campaign (
the P.C. "I Am An American" Ad Council/fedgovs though probably wouldnt have the testes) should perhaps be inaugurated in the ARABIC language with just a black TV screen and white text, saying 'Don't Try It'.
ANNOUNCER'S VOICE: "Bomb An Aircraft, Lose All of Mecca and Medina To the Same Fate"
Quite, frank, to the point, memorable catch phrase that should resonate inside the noggin of every slobbering fundamentalist raghead psycho bent on the destruction of Western modern civilization.

I think it was CNN that was promoting the accident angle. Bush came out pretty early saying that we had been attacked.

What is an ex-Texan? That term does not exist. You are either a Texan, or got here as fast as you could. Anyone else is just a visitor, most welcome, some not. So what are you really?

"What really sucks is that if a plane actually gets knocked down by a shoe-bomber, we'll never know. The NTSB will cover it up and blame it on pilot error or structural failure." My sentiments exactly.

A year after a passenger failed to blow up a U.S. airliner with a shoe bomb, the FBI is warning that terrorists remain interested in carrying out such an attack and that winter coats and shoes could be used to conceal explosives.
It wont be long before the 4th Amendment Freepers hit this thread to tell everyone that any kind of search constitutes unreasonable search. Coats, shoes, pregnant women, etc.

He faces between 60 years and life in prison when sentenced Jan. 8. Is that all he faces?
I see shoulder fired missiles as a continuous threat worldwide.

Our government is getting better at preventing terrorism, but if it actually happens, they'll do anything possible to cover it up. Yep. Add to your list: 1) Murrah Building (bombing), 2) TWA-800 (rocket attack), 3) Egypt Air (suicide crash by pilot).
