"UGA has nothing to gain by beating FSU, and FSU has a lot to gain by beating UGA, doncha know?"

Sounds like a little wishful thinkin', IMHO...UGA's gotta know that this'd be their best season in quite sometime if they can finish the season with a win. But I'll be pullin' fer FSU, even if you wasn't my frat bro...MUD

except fer UNC in hoops

There are exceptions. Never, ever pull for those people in any competition, under Coach Pretty Boy, or anyone else. Never, ever pass up an opportunity to bash them over anything stupid they do, like making the incoming freshmen read the We Love Islam, Religion of Peace book or when Chapel Hell made the diner take down the "offensive" American Flag.

"Eschoir Needs Yer Help!!"

LOL...had to bookmark this post, it's hilarious!!

Especially liked RiskySchemer's post #25..."I spent some time pondering the pathology of the antifreepers, but I was at a disadvantage. I couldn't relate to their behavior. I don't have a problem that liberal-spew sites exist. I don't actively work to undermine liberal/radical sites. I don't stalk them. I don't lose sleep at night thinking someone might actually contribute money to support one of them. I don't hate them while secretly longing to have their acceptance. I could not care less about what they think or say about things I might or might not do. It doesn't even cross my mind to attend or try to disrupt a meeting or rally they might organize. I don't endlessly rage at having been banned or scolded by one of them and obsessively seek vengeance. In fact, aside from now, I don't think of them at all. I could find no handle, no point at which I could empathize or get into the head of an antifreeper's thought processes. So I had to accept that to me they're just creepy."

Someday, I hope FReeperFinances allow us to open up the archives for posting to, as I believe a lotta the newer FReepers would gain from understanding what the old-timers went through to get FR.com to this point!!

Happy New Year, JohnRob...MUD

WOW...I hadn't heard about that!! Not that UVA's above and beyond some purty embarrassing PoliticalCorrectness...then again, we had a lotta DemRATS squawkin' on campus even when I was there in the early-80's (at the height of Reagan's prominence, no less). Fortunately, it's a big campus and it wasn't too hard to find venues wherein to avoid the IGNORANT DOLTS...LOL!! Plus, a little VirginiaGentleman helped make even the STOOOOPIDEST Lib'ral Punks tolerable.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a SilmarillionAddict and enjoy Tolkien's work here more than even "The Lord of the Rings", which I believe blows away "The Hobbit"!! So it'll be interesting to see how a Tolkien neophyte--BTW, how can someone claim "I’ve been a fan of fantasy since before I was a teenager..." and heve never read Tolkien?--perceives this work of genius.

"It's interesting that this evil is spontaneous—it merely "came into the heart of Melkor." We should also keep in mind that he is the "mightiest," the most greatly endowed with "power and knowledge." What do you think of how Tolkien puts a determinist spin on 'evil' when Ilúvatar proclaims, "And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined." So we end up with the sense that nothing is truly evil, since even when Melkor is at his worst, he's merely the instrument of Ilúvatar. And I’m pretty sure Tolkien doesn’t even use the word evil in this section. Peculiar—no?"

Interesting, but far from unique, IMHO. "Evil" is a direct decendant of FReeWill, and a conscious choice on the part of the evil-doer. The fact that Iluvatar proclaims that "...no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful..." is no different than the StarWars saga wherein Anakin Skywalker is created--divinely, apparently--by the need to bring "Balance to the Force", IMHO. For if there is no EVIL to be Vanquished, what need is there for Righteous Heroes?!

That said...let's bring this dichotomy back to the present day. How and why could such an inarguably EVIL Man such as Osama bil Clinton exist and rise to the highest echelons of World Power?! IMHO, it is so Clinton can be VANQUISHED by the Righteous!! Can there be any other reason for Der SchleekMeister's existence other than to see him DRAMATICALLY felled by the Goodness that is the essence of the Great American Experiment?!

I think not...MUD

"Crazy Train...LIVE!!"

Crazy Train, I thought we were gonna get wild tonight!
All right everybody stick their hands in the air!
We love you!

Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe yeah, yeah, it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
Mental wounds not healing
Driving me insane
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
Everybody clap your hands now come on!

I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned
To rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role

Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame?
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words...Yeah-h!!

(guitar solo)

Heirs of a cold war
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles I'm mentally numb

Crazy, but what do I care
I'm living with something,
I don't want to share
Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

Thank you! Okay!
It's what rock n roll's about!

"I believe Clinton should have been prosecuted."

And I believe he still shall be prosecuted.

"My only point is that Lord knows -- and I mean that literally -- why he hasn't been. Lord knows."

Perhaps part of the reason was what happened on November 5, 2002, and what shall happen in November 2004, IMHO. The unsatiated LustFerJustice vis a vis Der SchleekMeister and his feckless minions has given a certain number of Americans the desire--an almost divine inspiration--to strike out against the VileLeftists in alternate venues. Would the dissolution of the DemonRAT Party have been as hasty as it has been if Slick had've RESIGNED like he shouldda 4-6 years ago?! Probably not.

"So that was a limited point -- that God's not all about making sure everything's perfect on Earth -- that's not his Plan. We are fallen and evil abides here. He wants us to try to prosper and be happy, of course."

Bringing Clinton to Justice will NOT make life on Earth perfect...we all know that. Still, Clinton is an inarguable EVIL and for America to sit on our arses and pretend that 800-pound jackass ain't really sittin' there waitin' to be SLAUGHTERED is unthinkable to me. You recently summarized my opinion on this issue rather well on another thread, so I want you to understand this clearly...Bringing Clinton to Justice is not really about Clinton receiving what's coming to him at this point, IMHO. Bringing Clinton to Justice is what is required of America--and each individual American--as a whole in order to recapture some of the greatness that America forfeited over the last 40 years in which we've allowed the Left to set the Agenda for America!! In that respect, William Jefferson Clinton must be considered the Epitome of Evil and treated accordingly.

IMHO, God would approve...MUD

"WRITTEN IN STONE: AN ARCHITECT DEFINES THE CLINTONS!!"

"The "bridge to the 21st century" was, perhaps, clinton's most delusional conceit, so it is not surprising that it would become clinton's self-referential metaphor of choice. His library was to be that bridge, if he had anything to say about it...The architect is often the master of the inside joke, witness Robert Venturi's postmodern chairs. Venturi exploited--unabashedly and with abandon--the vocabulary of Las Vegas, its stage-set-as-reality and its roadside culture--bright, clashing, ugly and fake. The architect's inside joke is his hedge against the sycophancy that comes with patronage. The flip side of the encoded meaning of the architect is the terrorist's decoding of it. To bin Laden, the World Trade Center was Jewish capitalism encoded in urban space. If Polshek's vision of clinton's library is a bridge, the inside joke is that, at best, it is a bridge to nowhere."

Isn't Bobby's boy a TeeVee commentator now and isn't Tommy Tuberville coaching the Tiggers?

Good point. Had Clinton resigned, Gore would have become POTUS and likely been re-elected and still be POTUS today. God's plan for the destruction of evil (and the RAT party) is obviously better than our own plans, in hindsight. And we should never forget that Good will beat Bad in the end.

The 'Hoos beat that one like a drum too. He's a TeeVee mouthpiece now because the 'Hoos walloped him in the season opener at Auburn (I was there too). A few more losses and he had to sneak out of town at night in the middle of the season.

West Virginia governor asks UVA for an apology

During the Cavaliers-Mountaineers matchup at Charlotte, N.C., Virginia's independent pep band staged a parody of ``The Bachelor,'' with a male Virginia student choosing between two female contestants.

One female, purported to be from West Virginia, had blue overalls, pigtails, a talent for square dancing and a dream to move to Beverly Hills, Calif. -- a reference to ``The Beverly Hillbillies.''

Why should UVA apologize for their honest portrayal of West Virginny??

"Apparently, (the pep band) has a reputation for being rather unconventional." The pep band also lampooned West Virginia at halftime of a 1985 game in Charlottesville, Va. That performance, a parody of ``Family Feud,'' included derogatory references to indoor plumbing and birth control in West Virginia."

In all honesty, nobody at UVA likes the Pep Band either...they haven't had an original thought since the early 80's and are an embarrassment to themselves and the University. During halftimes this season, we brought in high school bands and Jr. college bands, etc. and they were enjoyed much more than anything the Pep Band has done fer years...I think the Pep Band's expected life span is pretty short.
