The only time I visited NOLA (in 1997), I seemed to notice the same thing.
My guess is that since the general "vibe" of New Orleans is "let the good times roll",
it seems to be generally accepted, even across racial lines, that things just go better when
folks try to get along and enjoy themselves.

What NOLA (and Louisiana) lack in economic development, they more than make up for with
a good-times culture and good food.

That's my call was 51% -48% for Terrell.....
I figured 1% for write-ins.

if the Black vote ends up low......Terrell could win by 5%+..otherwise it will be in the 3% range.

Clinton's the ONLY U.S. president ever to "win" two terms without EVER winning over 50% of the votes either time.

Carl Cameron was just hinting big time. Talking about how where Landrieu is campaigning today (and that she was campaigning fiercely)-- New Orleans-- can be construed by some as a sign of desperation. The other reporter (Major something or other) made it sound like the Democrats are not optimistic.

We'll see, but if these guys were hinting at something they know, they were hinting good news for us.

I keep saying that a significant number of blacks vote on the prolife issue and none of that group votes prochoice. Glad to hear there are some of the Churches that are bold enough to resist the Demo "bully boy" tactics.

Breaux already stated he won't be running for Governor next year. But, if Landrieu does lose, he may reconsider. He made that statement when the RATS were the illegitimate majority in the Senate, but was thinking of retiring in '98. He knows he'd be a shoo-in, and I don't think he's going to care to be back in the minority.

Carter did not carry Virginia in that election. It was won by Gerald Ford.

Nothing in yet. Judging by what people on the thread are reporting that have been to the polls the turnout seems to be very high in rep areas and low in Rat areas, but the massive fraud machine is in place in the most populous and Rat infested areas, so it is by the grace of God, as always lately.

If Terrell wins, it gives the Rs a good cushion in the Senate. The Ds would need three party switchers and would have to convince McCain, Chafee and Collins or Snowe to switch. As I recall, three of the four are already committee chairmen and they ain't going to give that up, especially given the 2004 senate election when 19 Ds and only 14 Rs are up. But I'll believe she wins when all the votes are in; 64 percent of the white vote is a tall order in any state, especially with a sitting senator who has curried favor with significant segments of the electorate.

In terms of college mascots, I think the Tiger is losing. The Greenie is winning (I hope).
