A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 12/4/02

Another busy day for President Bush today as he signed a few new bills and hosted the lighting of the White House Menorah. The President signed the 'Anton's Law' which requires shoulder belts in addition to lap straps in the middle rear seats of vehicles. Bush also signed the Dot Kids Implementation and Efficiency Act, which creates a new kids-safe 'dot-kids' domain on the Internet that would contain only material appropriate for children under 13. After signing the bill, he took questions from the media, and once again stated that he is not optimistic regarding the inspections in Iraq. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura hosted Afghani teachers as they learn to become master teachers, who will eventually be responsible for training teachers back in their home country. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Oh - yeah - we will survive. I quite agree there. And do so in fine fashion.

Do not mistake my economic negativism for negativism on other levels of life; but also reduce your levels of debt, don't mortgage your home to the max, stay out of the stock market, and be prepared to live more on the frugal side. Lawgirl should sell her house sooner rather than later -- even if the price is less than she wanted, then be slow to repurchase.

Many of you folks living in flyover country already live thus. Some of us folks living in boom towns like Silicon Valley will have some adjusting to do.

And plan on enjoying the spectacle of watching the DemoRats trying to figure out why they lost bigtime, again, even with a depressed economy.

Youngins like azGOPgal will have some fine stories to tell their grandkids.

At least that's how I see it. But I'm an odd duck ... er eh snake ... er eh cow ... er eh bull ... whatever.

Pay no mind, Mike, that my forecast is different than yours. You can rest assured that the future is paying very little attention to what I think. It will do its thing anyway.

When I look back over the last couple of years, even though my investments have done quite well, thank-you, I have been enriched far more by the good people here at the Free Republic, and by the good man and woman in the White House. Have a good night, my friends.

Yeah - I like that. It feels good. If God wanted to teach us the difference between good and bad leaders, he couldn't have setup the lesson plan much better than he did.

Hmmm...ok...so what about that time in between?? Should I live in a van down by the river?? LOL!!! ;-D I've got 2100 square feet and 4 bedrooms full of furniture. An apartment won't work so well for us I am afraid.

Oh I don't disagree that many of us need to re-adjust our ways of living a bit and reduce our amounts of debt as much as possible.

I'm no expert and yes I did lose a boat load in the markets, but that is just paper and I expect the markets to rebound even better then before, that is as soon as Wall Street gets their heads out of their butts and start looking at the future instead of at the moment. But that's just my opinion. But hey the bright side is .. my 401K survived and is doing just fine ..

I watched Jack Welch last night and he made an important point .. back before Reagan became President unemployment was 12% and the prime interest rate was 22% .. NOW today the unemployment rate is 5% and the prime rate is close to nothing ..

Things may look bleak .. but thanks to Reagan and many of his policies things aren't really that bad .. and with President Bush I think our future will be just fine.

Well if you're going head down to the river .. may I suggest a houseboat .. not sure if the van will float during a flood.

On a serious note .. whatever you do is your decision because only you can tell what is best .. but I do know that when my father died, everyone told my mother to sell her house, ship us kids off to an orphanage and move to an apartment ..

Thankfully she didn't listen to them .. and that house she paid $13,000 for is now paid off and worth a heck of alot more today and my family is still intact

OK .. on another note

WOW .. I'm watching the Today Show .. What the heck happen to Matt Lauer's hair?? ..

OMG, how bad is that?? I happened to see perky Katie on Larry King last week - and she explained that Matt's hair is thinning quickly - so he decided to just get the buzz cut. He looks like such a dork. I'm watching Imus - John F Kerry was just on - he is such a prima donna. Imus likes him (personally) (why)?, but he and Bernard are not buying his BS. I always get a kick out of Imus.

Awwwwwww....doesn't this just make you want to give him a big squeeze, or at least pinch his cheek? This is my favorite of all the pictures of his visit to our town. I'm making it may wallpaper for the day.

Nope, I didn't alter his eye color in that photo. But you're right. It really depends on how the photo is taken whether his eyes look blue, hazel, or green. Maybe his eyes change hues with different colors. I have hazel eyes, but when I wear certain colors, they look really green.

Hello from the frozen icey land of central North Carolina. The pictures are wonderful - but the President looks tired in his eyes. Does anybody else think so? Of course he should be with the Iraq situation - but here's hoping he gets some most needed rest soon - somehow.

Hope everybody is staying well. Thanks for understanding my "season of prayer" which continues....despite the icey conditions...... :-)

I didn't hear about that poll, Wphile, but I do believe it's true. Before 9-11, I truly feared that anyone under the age of 25 had pretty much lost interest in the history of this country, let alone being politically aware. But after 9-11, the number of youngsters I saw out on street corners and public places waiving the flag and supporting the President restored my faith in youth.

For many of these young folks, President Bush represents a father figure, someone to protect them from danger and to provide guidance and clarity. And in the days in weeks after 9-11, I, too, realized, that because of President Bush's leadership, a generation of Republicans was being created.
