Why? Because Republican leaders gave up before the race ever started? I'm sick of that.
This is exactly the kind of scandal (the stealing of the Maine Senate by corrupt and hypocritical RATS) which has the potential to begin the process of waking up Mainers to why they need a change in leadership up there.
Their fellow Maine legislators will know. We'd only get wind of it if something happened there like what happened in CA, once in 1995 and then again in 1996. The 1994 election swept both houses of CA into GOP hands, but the GOP only had a one vote margin in the assembly.
Willie Brown engineered it so that one pubbie gave his vote to the Dems to give them the majority. That pubbie assyman was easily recalled, but, following procedure, it took until spring of 1996 to do it.
Well the outrage was great, but the trouble obviously ran deeper. Because that swingback to a GOP controlled assembly never happened. Why? Because no sooner had the new pubbie been sworn in then ANOTHER pubbie played Benedict Arnold.
Who are they you ask? In a POGO sense, it's us. We keep electing candidates all over the country who could best be described as ruling-class clubbies. This is supposed to be a republic. We're seeing it morph into an aristocracy.
Hard to argue with that...and the aristocrats are quite contemptuous of the rule of law, eh?
Up until now, mostly DUhs, racists, and the more strident Libertarians have been banned. A good number of them deserve banning too, because their covert efforts make a mockery of FR. But then, again, we wouldn't be able to keep tabs on 'em and their tactics.
I've seen you take on the task of countering their demoralizing and despoiling efforts. Pretty good job too. May you continue to undermine their progress effectively.
