Now we'll get the truth.

Who knows? Maybe they'll discover that some of these terrorists were here beyond their visa dates, others were not in the country for the stated reason, and that there are schools for pilots that don't do real thorough security checks. This commission might even discover that the borders are porous, and those that mean to do us harm pretty much come and go as they please. They might even discover that the tail wags the dog...that economic concerns for those who make profits pretty much keep this going.

Then again, they might spend millions of dollars and not even discover what we already know....(sigh)

RE # 60:

That's a two party system in a democracy at work. We'll all have to agree first who's fault it might be!

The Saudi Fix in in.

The man who brought us the petrodollar to appease the tensions in Arabia now will try to do the equivalent with appeasing Wahhabis.

I think the discussion should rather be turned to taking over the Saudi oil fields to be returned to their rightful owners, pre-nationalization.

"Get to the Saudi problem, Mr. President....you don't need Henry Kissinger to tell you it was them."

Henry's only supposed to be investigating US intelligence failures leading up to 9/11.

No one is really fond of Kissinger. He's a hard man to like. However, he's not a bad choice for the job.

He has intelligence gathering and counter-intelligence experience, operations coordination, psy-ops and weapons analysis experience. Obviously, he has experience both in and dealing with the State Department. He's qualified to head a committee who's sole purpose is to analyze the state of US intelligence gathering and recommend changes.

Kissinger is a phenomenal choice for a number of reasons.

1. Kissinger is a known commodity and will not be a loose cannon with the news media.

2. Kissinger enjoys unimpeachable integrity with the American people from across the ideological spectrum.

3. The appointment furthers Bush's stature as the unquestioned leader in global foreign policy for the free world.

4. Finally, it puts the RATS in a box. When shortfalls of the 1990s are addressed, are the RATS going to dump on Kissinger? I think not, because it won't sell with the American people.

Bravo, yet again, Mr. President.

I applauded when I saw this becase the rats, once again, have been flumoxed.

"Did anyone think this investigation into 09/11 failures in security was going to develop any serious allegations? It's another sham to pacify the sheeple.

Nothing happening here folks... move along, move along...

Kissinger: A big government Republican who had convinced Nixon that the Soviets had won the Cold War.

The same man who made secret deals with the KGB in an attempt to get Nixon re-elected at ALL costs. FANTASTIC! Another "appeasement" specialist that has been nothing but wrong.

You need to read the book The Threatening Storm to understand why some of our "allies" don't want their involvement in the war on terror or the Iraqi situation discussed in public. It's quite understandable and reasonable and too lengthy to go into here. Geopolitics aren't an easy discussion topic in any forum, and remember that at one time Stalin was considered our "friend" for a limited period of time and to our benefit at that time.

You need to read about what Kissinger was working on with the KGB during the Cold War. I find your faith unfounded and scary.

I just saw terrorism expert Steve Emerson (unbiased) on MSNBC

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Read your history, please. Find out what connections Kissinger had to the KGB.

"When Clinton is called to testify as to why he did nothing to stop the terrorist attacks before 9/11, I hope he doesn't try that "IS" is crap again. I don't think America will fall for that one this time."

Heheheh...that's exactly why I hope he does pull the "IS" routine. BTW, I doubt he'll get away with getting into red faced, pumped up, screaming rage with the committee, like he did with that young reporter in Russia who asked him that same question, either.

Well folks, this could go one of two ways. He'll either whitewash, or drop the bomb on the Clintons.

I sincerely hope it's the latter.

"Any committee with McCain as a member is bound to be nothing but show biz."

We're safe.

According to the article, "No members of the commission will be sitting members of Congress."

It sure seems like a joke. An email on secrecy from the Federation of American Scientists (fas.org) couldn't have said it better:

---

"Dr. Kissinger will bring broad experience, clear thinking and careful
judgment to this important task," the President said in signing the
2003 Intelligence Authorization Act.

But Kissinger is not distinguished as an impartial judge of government
misconduct, to put it mildly. To the contrary, he is an investigatee,
not an investigator, and one who has stubbornly resisted the
disclosure of official information to members of Congress, courts of
law, private researchers, and others.
