I hate my job. I wish I could live a comfortable life without having to work.
Can the best and brightest Freeper minds devise a way of life in which nobody has to work, yet we are all living comfortably?
There could be a technological solution to this problem.
What if we created intelligent robots to do our work for us, while we all relax and enjoy life?
The pace of advances in computer technology is increasing and a solution to the problem of having to go to work may occur in this century.
My hope is that we will all be able to live in a leisure class like the idle rich.
How can this be implemented?
Who would own the robots: individuals, the government, or corporations?
My challenge to all at Free Republic is to devise a Constitution of a political socioeconomic system in which nobody has to work but in which we are all wealthy.

Many people are too busy working and take no time to discover their natural God given gifts. When one finds their bliss, they find peace, joy, fulfillment and work becomes play.
Saudi Arabia has that luxury today. The question is WHY should those in power set anything up for anyone not in power to live in luxury. Who will make them? Why?
I think that in your scenario the robots would have to be programmed to know that they are programmed and consequently be enabled to alter their programs, that is in effect to match the skills of the humans who initially created them. This is, I think, the paradox which effectively nixes the whole idea.(Hasn't some well known writer written about it?)
Quit mixing up economics and politics, and you'll be a step ahead! Governmental entities are a net drag to an economic system.
The solution you're looking for is an economic one only. That being said, it's an impossibility except in the shortest of short terms. It's like economic perpetual motion.
Go ahead. We don't need robots. You can stop right now and have a life of luxury and good health superior to even the wealthiest man 100 years ago. You can go on the dole and have a quality of life SUPERIOR to Abraham Lincoln.
Why don't you? WHY?

Yes. Just have a class of non-persons doing the work for you. What would you do for money? Well if it were a country with a lot of oil say all citizens got a piece of the action and as said non-persons did the service jobs, chores and menial tasks. By non-persons I do not mean robots as you suggest, that's impractical. If you like the sounds of such a world just make sure who your parents will be before you're born.
BTW, I concur with the one post, having a job stinks. Being paid for doing your hobby is as good as it gets but having to work at something you don't like is also educational and builds character. Going broke and losing everything you've got and I mean everything is also educational and builds character. Everyone should try it at least once.

Like it or not: Isn't that the system we've been moving inexorably toward at least since FDR? The only thing which ever varies is the general rate of movement & the particular sectors of collectivization that a given administration advances.
Office Space was simply one of the best movies ever made.
Marx's system wasn't successful.
In his system, the people were the slaves, not robots.
And people had to work, not live lives of luxury.
But you have earned nothing at all. By what right will you claim even 1 robot to clean your toilets?
What power will you have to request even 2 robots when your neighbor has 6?
