Is it possible to create a political socioeconomic system in which nobody has to work?
Fantasy vanity | November 26, 2002 | Momaw Nadon

I hate my job. I wish I could live a comfortable life without having to work.

Can the best and brightest Freeper minds devise a way of life in which nobody has to work, yet we are all living comfortably?

There could be a technological solution to this problem.

What if we created intelligent robots to do our work for us, while we all relax and enjoy life?

The pace of advances in computer technology is increasing and a solution to the problem of having to go to work may occur in this century.

My hope is that we will all be able to live in a leisure class like the idle rich.

How can this be implemented?

Who would own the robots: individuals, the government, or corporations?

My challenge to all at Free Republic is to devise a Constitution of a political socioeconomic system in which nobody has to work but in which we are all wealthy.

Any takers?

I believe that, in theory, it is possible create an army of robotic workers who will generate wealth and allow people to enjoy life without having to go to work.

Are you trying to get help with writing a paper for class or something?

Just remember this: Generally, there are no shortcuts.

Sometimes you love your job so much it's not really work. It's play.

I never had a job like that but I know people who do/have.

How about if everyone is assigned there own robotic worker. It's ability and maintennance are up to you. The better repairman/robotic hot rodder you are, the more your robot is capable of, the more money you make. I have no idea how this could work with white collar labor. ;)

How will you enjoy life?

Will you watch robots acting on TV?

Will you read a book written by robots?

Will you see a robot Dr.?

Will the politicians be robots? (kinda like Al Gore)

Will the policemen be robots? The Judges?

Who will decide which robots will do what work?

Of course this is feasible and CAN BE done!

All that has to happen is that EVERYBODY votes for the democrats.

By the by, when robots were mentioned earlier... I figure it was referring to Algore.

I'm not writing a paper.

I really want to know if it is possible to devise a system in which we all live as though we have won the lottery.

TANSTAAFL, baby. You wouldn't like it, a life of idleness, being hand-fed and fawned over constantly by a bevy of beautiful supermodels and starlets. I hate it, myself.

Its a few hundred years off and there will still be people needed to monitor the robots so they don't kill us all( above all no emotions well except maybe for the pleasure droids).
