Congratulations to a great group of people. I've read the current thread running at the Guild and printed out that Horseradish Salad that I missed last year...thanks, Timeout for reposting it!
HLL...I saw where you wanted some Victoria Secrets angel wings. How do you like these? :)

In memory of my fellow Vietnam helicopter pilots who were killed in that war the following were lost on NOV 25. God bless them all.

1967 MAJ Evart E. Robeson (USA) -- US Army, Age 35, Rapid City, South Dakota
1968 1LT Johnny W. Benton (USAR) -- 11th ACR, Age 21, Jerome, Idaho
1970 WO1 Freddie L. Lockhart (USAR) -- 1 SIG BDE (USAR), Age 37, Terra Alta, West Virginia
1971 MAJ Robert B. Swenck (USAF) -- 37 ARRS, Age 38, Louisville, Kentucky
1971 CPT John W. George (USAF) -- 37 ARRS, Age 26, Big Rock, Tennessee

From a friend of MAJ Robert Swenck's family;
You have never been forgotten.
Bob, you certainly made an impact on the students you taught and those you didn't. I still remember your showing me the coffee table that you had crafted for Jim. It was beautiful and so were you. You are not a forgotten individual. You mattered. It was an honor to know you. Love - Sheryl

Tribute to MAJ Swenck and CPT George: KIA, Gia Dinh, South Vietnam

MAJ Swenck and CPT were killed when their HH-53C (Jolly Green 70), took ground fire during a rescue mission. The crew stopped at a forward base camp to make sure the chopper was safe to fly. They encountered a heavy rain storm on the flight back, when the chopper took more fire and the pilot was hit. It began a slow, controlled descent and impacted in the Nha Be River. Once it hit the water it did a severe end over flip, and the chopper sank immediately. Three men, Capt. John W. George, Maj. Robert B. Swenck, and A1C Thomas D. Prose were killed immediately.

The Guild has done an extraordinary amount of investigative work ...... the media would do well to learn their search techniques ..... they might even be able to report some facts occasionally if they would do just a fraction of the searching that our Guild has done!

The Live Threads, the Recipe Threads, the Care Packages, the Daffodil Project ..... the awareness and action taken by the members of The Guild truly make them citizens, not spectators!

This special recognition of The Guild is certainly well deserved!

Y'all are lookin' just a wee bit foxy and cute this morning...'thank Heaven for little girls'.

The stick figure noodling around to say Hello is very cool, daisy!

In all my years at FR, I voraciously consumed the news, but am embarassed that I never checked out the other neighborhoods in Freeperville, haven't been to the Guild. Thanks for today's Profile...you prompt me to expand my horizons.

Finally beginning to wake up on a reluctant Monday, wishing you all a gooood day.

Mornin' ladies.

'Tis a GREAT thing you've done today featuring The Guild as one of FR's Finest...

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've commented "over there," but it sure is fun lurking.

Welcome, The Guild, to FR's Finest... Hall of Fame. You all have earned the kudos you are receiving.

Hi Daisy. It's true you do learn something knew everyday. I didn't realize the Guild had been broke back to the main forum.

Those threads are always informative. Thanks to all those who keep the daily threads going and active.

From email received today--

Celebrated playwright James Sherman is author of a hilarious "Hu's on First?" sketch that he penned - dripping wet - this week after the Communist Party chose Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao as its new general secretary.
A member of the Victory Gardens' Theater Playwrights Ensemble in Chicago, Mr. Sherman, with due credit to Abbott & Costello, tells Inside the Beltway the idea splashed into his head while showering Monday.
"I raced to the computer and knocked it out," reveals Mr. Sherman, who actually arrives in Washington today to discuss his long-running theater production, "The God of Isaac." Without further ado, "Hu's on First?"
(We take you now to the Oval Office)
George: Condi! Nice to see you. What's happening?
Condi: Sir, I have the report here about the new leader of China.
George: Great. Lay it on me.
Condi: Hu is the new leader of China.
George: That's what I want to know.
Condi: That's what I'm telling you.
George: That's what I'm asking you. Who is the new leader of China?
Condi: Yes.
George: I mean the fellow's name.
Condi: Hu.
George: The guy in China.
Condi: Hu.
George: The new leader of China.
Condi: Hu.
George: The Chinaman!
Condi: Hu is leading China.
George: Now whaddya' asking me for?
Condi: I'm telling you Hu is leading China.
George: Well, I'm asking you. Who is leading China?
Condi: That's the man's name.
George: That's who's name?
Condi: Yes.
George: Will you or will you not tell me the name of the new leader of China?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yasser? Yasser Arafat is in China? I thought he was in the Middle East.
Condi: That's correct.
George: Then who is in China?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yasser is in China?
Condi: No, sir.
George: Then who is?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yasser?
Condi: No, sir.
George: Look, Condi. I need to know the name of the new leader of China. Get me the secretary-general of the U.N. on the phone.
Condi: Kofi?
George: No, thanks.
Condi: You want Kofi?
George: No.
Condi: You don't want Kofi.
George: No. But now that you mention it, I could use a glass of milk. And then get me the U.N.
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Not Yasser! The guy at the U.N.
Condi: Kofi?
George: Milk! Will you please make the call?
Condi: And call who?
George: Who is the guy at the U.N.?
Condi: Hu is the guy in China.
George: Will you stay out of China?!
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the guy at the U.N.
Condi: Kofi.
George: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone.
(Condi picks up the phone)
Condi: Rice, here.
George: Rice? Good idea. And a couple of egg rolls, too. Maybe we should send some to the guy in China. And the Middle East. Can you get Chinese food in the Middle East?
