Gore Calls 2000 Verdict 'Crushing,' Assails Court
Washington Post ^ | 11/16/2002 | Dan Balz

In his first interviews since conceding the presidency to George W. Bush almost two years ago, former vice president Al Gore calls the outcome of the 2000 election "a crushing disappointment" and criticizes the 5-4 Supreme Court decision that put Bush in the White House as "completely inconsistent" with the court's conservative philosophy.

"I believe that if everyone in Florida who tried to vote had had his or her vote counted properly, that I would have won," Gore said in an interview with Washington Post Magazine staff writer Liza Mundy for an article to be published Sunday. "I strongly disagreed with the Supreme Court decision and the way in which they interpreted and applied the law. But I respect the rule of law, so it is what it is."

Gore told ABC's Barbara Walters, in an interview to air tonight on ABC's "20/20," that he "absolutely" believed he would become president when the Florida Supreme Court ordered a recount of all disputed ballots in the state, making the result all the more emotionally difficult to accept. His wife, Tipper, said in the Post interview, "I still believe we won."

Republican appointments: 7 Democrat appointments: 2

Look Gore is a loser. He has claimed victim status. His name will go down as one of the most persecuted historical figures in our nation's history. Textbooks are already being written including this I can assure you. (Guessing here...)

It wasn't 5-4, it was 7-2 that what Gore and the Florida Courts was illegal. The 5-4 was about whether there was enough time to pursue this. The 5-4 was saying there was NOT enough time.
Even here Gore the sleezy SOB missleads the interview from basic truths.

after thirty two posts, the media still controls the ole
perception is reality verdict. Even here too and with
freepers, the point is missed.....it was neither the 7-2
or 5-4 supremes vote that is the stone here. No,that
honor belongs to one Judge Sauls in Tallahassee Fla.

not one of the seven points David Boise for the
democrats and Algore won,not one. Not butterfly
ballots,voter intimidation,buchannan confusion,
difinitive ote counting while law is decided,
not one single point was won.......that is still
where the actual law is upheld........the FLa supremes
acted autonomous of "the law and Judge Sauls".But not
lawfully.

The Leftist News Media paid for recounts that were not allowed by the Supremes decision -- they (the Leftist News Media) all agreed that there was no chance for Algore to have won. So my advice to Algore -- get real!

You may recall that "Jack Loafered Thugs" on the 14th Floor of Dade County Courthouse saved us from having Gore as President. The Thugs stopped the Democrats in Dade from moving the "vote counting" (manufacturing votes for Gore)to a secure area, so, Gore - BAWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH you Lost the opportunity, WAAAAAAAAAAH. The Meltdown continues!

Way-y-y-y too much optimism for this forum. See post #23 for the right blend of chicken-little bleakness and mindnumbing cynicism.

On the other hand, at least he was honest this time saying it was all about him. Imagine how fast one would have to reach for the barf bag if we were subjected to "The thing the disaapointed me the most was being deprived of the chance to serve the workers,, the children, the minorities.. yadda yadda yadda" That would have been classic ClintonGoreSpeak.
