Dear Military Lurkers
As you have now noticed there have been changes to the Canteen.
1st of all let me assure you that the Canteen is here to stay.
Due to circumstances beyond my control I have assumed the duty of running the Canteen.
I could not even begin to explain what happened on this or on any other thread.
HOWEVER feel free to e-mail me at seaside611@hotmail.com with any questions.
It is my intention to keep the original purpose of the Canteen on track.
That purpose is to show our support for the military, their families and veterans.
Please be assured that we stand firmly behind you.
May God Bless and Protect you, my Brothers and Sisters.

To all the active duty men and women, our thoughts and prayers are for your success and your safe return. Happy (belated) Veterans Day.
Old salts can find their ship info and/or reconnect with old shipmates at: www.hullnumber.com There's probably similar sites for the other branches.

ooops. . .
i cannot even sign my own name properly when i am in such a hilariously jubilant mode re: bro tonk still hangin' in there for the canteen.
it should have read as the sign-off sig:
"chap granT"
got it?
got it!
To: Valin
Thanks for today's history, Valin.
Thought for the day:
"Only the doctor can suffer from good health."
That could be a problem for a doctor. LOL!

God Bless our Troops.
You mean to tell me our government is possibly giving-up on the proper 'chains' of Diplomacy? Oh my!

To: FryingPan101
Hi, FryingPan. That Lady Liberty fireworks show is lots of fun. Thanks for sharing with our troops.

Bump for the military!
I'm sorry I can't drop by as often as I'd like, but there's usually more graphics than my poor old internet connection can handle. Sigh...

Have you seen my "babies"?

Loved the quotes. Here is another one:

We have many, many acquaintances whose names are on the Wall. Six very good friends. My husband lost 22 of his men in one friendly fire incident that still nearly rips his heart out when he talks about it. We visit the Wall every year and make a point of stopping in to honor all who died whenever the travelling Wall is in our area. When all is said and done, we have more friends and acquaintances who made it home than were fallen. We all keep the fallen alive in our hearts and memories. We are not among those who are stereotyped from the Vietnam era. We're proud. We are among the fortunate. Our love for country remains strong. My husband, his friends, his compatriots have never been among the unemployed or homeless....or hopeless. We will always have faith that our Armed Forces will be the best on the planet and will get the job done....because it has to be done.....by every generation. Freedom isn't free. Welcome home.
