I did see a small interview of the truck driver shortly after the capture. He's an older white guy. He said he wasn't a hero. Haven't heard anything about him since though.

Well, Howlin, that's pretty much what I'm seeing on this thread. Moose was out front. He's black. People don't like the way he talks. He's an easy target.

If they knew anything about law enforcement, especially the feds, they'd realize that Moose was, quite simply, the face out front. If I remember correctly, the task force consisted of members (primarily the chiefs or sheriffs or their designees) of the cities/counties in Maryland, the cities/counties in Virginia, DC, the respective state law enforcement agencies, the FBI, the ATF, the Secret Service, Postal Inspectors, and other unknown federal & state alphabet agencies, but yet we're supposed to believe that Moose was the one with absolute power because he was black--and that's said without one scintilla of proof.

Look, all the profilers blew it. Even though they were willing to consider a woman as a sniper (because of Aileen Wournos because she killed her johns) as an outside chance, they didn't consider someone of another race. There have been black serial killers. There have been Hispanic serial killers. I can even think of one Asian serial killer just off the top of my head (Charles Ng). They also leaned towards this being one, not two, serial killer, because most serial killers work alone. They couldn't figure out his motive, because most serial killers like killing up close & personal. M & M didn't. They also, knowing what we know now, had more than one MO--robbery, thrill, and at least one for possible personal revenge. They had no set geographical area. From what we know now, they've killed on both coasts and places inbetween. And the cops in a number of jurisdictions blew it, from Washington state to Arizona to Louisiana to Alabama to Georgia to Virginia to Maryland to the District of Columbia to (possibly) Florida--and probably more states we don't know about yet. The connections weren't made early on. But yet, it's Moose's fault because he's black and he doesn't talk right. Pretty amazing, huh?

This attitude is more prevalent than I realized. My husband knows a black guy who made the same comment about he sure hoped the snipers weren't black. Everyone was happy as long as the profile said, "Angry, white males ages xxxxx." Man I don't know how come black people can get away with being so obviously racist. The OJ Simpson was a huge example of that. I guess they can thank Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Black Panthers, Malcolm X, etc. for being such good teachers.

I used to think that during early stages of the investigation. Moose proved me wrong. Moose was in charge of the investigation, and he bears responsibility for these very serious transgressions - they should have caught Muhammad on October 8th, but let him go because they were looking for "a white van with white people." There apparently were so many entries on that Caprice in their database that a simple SQL query would have floated it right to the top of the investigation. Yet they doggedly ignored their own database, witness accounts and phone calls that should have established the ethnicity of the shooters. You can defend Moose from culpability all you want. But IMO the buck stops with this Moose.

From October 19, when he got the sniper letter with the key phrases "Word is Bond" and "Call me God", Moose had to know he was dealing with a Black Muslim member of "5% Nation of Islam" (also this)

I'm not ignoring it. I'm just reading some of the posts on this thread. And some are racist, some more blatant than others, and that's just plain shameful for FR. That Moose is black and doesn't speak the way people want him to speak seems to cloud both logic and the knowledge of how law enforcement and prosecutor's offices work.

What I'm trying to figure out is how Moose ended up to be the only person on the taskforce and that he and he alone was the only one to investigate, to make decisions and to profile. Can you enlighten me?
