"The folks in Green Bay talk similarly, but dey gots more of a German-Polish-Belgian accent, rather than the German-Polish accent of Milwaukee. The Belgian accent is slightly different. Den you gots dem Yoopers. Dey tink an talk almosts likes dey's from Wisconsin, but dey don't, dontcha know."

Looks like the ebonics lessons are working out well.

Sorry, it's not ebonics. It's English with a thick German accent. My grandparents, my grandmother in particular, had trouble prounouncing the "th" sound. She even had trouble with the "t" sound. That sometimes came out as a "d" sound. She also had trouble with the "s" sound. That usually came out as a "z." She'd say things like, "Pud da dizzhez in da zzzink." It was rather endearing--well, once my sisters and I got older. When we were younger, we'd make fun of her.
