Sorry, it's not ebonics. It's English with a thick German accent. My grandparents, my grandmother in particular, had trouble prounouncing the "th" sound. She even had trouble with the "t" sound. That sometimes came out as a "d" sound. She also had trouble with the "s" sound. That usually came out as a "z." She'd say things like, "Pud da dizzhez in da zzzink." It was rather endearing--well, once my sisters and I got older. When we were younger, we'd make fun of her.

I know what you mean. My "Oma" had a thick German accent as well. I only wish she were alive so that I could hear it again.
