Suzie Terrell needs your help in Louisiana runoff!
Posted on 11/06/2002 5:23:32 PM PST by strick68
Suzie Terrell will face the incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu (sp?) in a runoff for the U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana on Dec. 7th. According to Hugh Hewitt http://www.hughhewitt.com the new campaign finance laws DO NOT APPLY TO THIS RACE!!! This race will immediately become a Democrat soft money party in an effort to deny the Republicans the opportunity of padding their new lead in the Senate. We must help Suzie in whatever way we can. Her website http://www.suzieterrell.com does not accept online donations (yet) but you can call (225)218-8683 or donate by mail to: Suzanne Haik Terrell for U.S. Senate PO Box 44267 Baton Rouge, LA 70804 If she wins and the John Thune/Tim Johnson race in South Dakota breaks our way, we will have a lead of 53-47-1 over the 'RATS and Independent Jumpin' Jim Jeffords!! Let's help this good woman by donating!! And if you can, try to get down to Louisiana to walk precincts for her. Go to http://www.stomp4victory.org for information. And a special thanks to Hugh Hewitt for this information.

Here are the results for this race. Strong Terrell endorsements from the 3rd and 4th place finishers (Cooksey and Perkins, who are both Republican) could put Terrell over the top in the run-off.

See post 101, especially the link to election results. If Terrell has enough money/people to continue pressing her campaign till 12/7, she could beat Landrieu.
3rd and 4th place in the vote were both Republicans representing 24% of the total vote. Add this to Terrell's 27% and she beats Landrieu by 4 points at run-off -- if she has the wherewithal to continue campaigning.

How would it be if we ultimately lose SD, but still win La?

How would it be if we ultimately lose SD, but still win La, numbers wise?

If Terrell has enough money/people to continue pressing her campaign till 12/7, she could beat Landrieu.I didn't realize that Terrell had gotten 27%, that's awesome! Now all she needs is for EVERYONE who went out and voted for her or the other Repubs. to come back out on 12/7! Mary Landrieu's voters may not be as motivated because the Pubbies are now solidly in charge and having her in the Senate won't change that. The Louisiana Pubbies just have to get folks to the polls!!

That's right, SuziQ! It's all about the endorsements of the runners-up and getting out the vote, which takes a lot of work for a December run-off. The dems need this victory very badly after the drubbing they've taken, so you can be sure they'll be pouring immense resources into Landrieu's campaign.
While it's true that Landrieu would now be in the Senate minority, she's got some seniority which would still help Louisiana. Terrell has to overcome this and it won't be easy without lots of out-of-state help from folks like you and me.

Historically voter turnout in run-offs in Louisiana has been low, which is bad news for Landrieu because New Orleans will have no local races on the ballot come Dec 7, which means she'll have to probably kidnap the entire population of N.O. to get them to the polls. On the other hand, there is a run-off in Louisiana's 5th Congressional district that could help GOP turnout there.
If we win Louisiana but lose South Dakota, we would have 52 total seats.

Something I thought was interesting, today Rush got a call from someone who was concerned about the Louisiana Senate race. Rush indicated he thought things were going well and that he had polling data but he was not at liberty to reveal it. Could it be early polling shows things not too good for Liberal Mary? Something to keep our eye on.

Terrell website takes contributions including by credit card, now, of course.
Mary's low class vocabulary, lack of religion and faith, and nasty, bitchy character and low IQ are all beginning to become evident.
Terrell, who has degrees from Loyola and Tulane and still practices the Catholic faith, ought to set a record for this year 2002 in the share of black vote going to a GOP candidate for Senate.

Oh BTW be sure to note: it is suzieterrell.com, for the Website to contribute to, and which has other useful data.
