A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-06-02 How Sweet It Is!!

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

HOW SWEET IT IS!

She flies the Florida Flag, and flies it as proudly as she does Old Glory. Below is a recent photo of JulieRNR21 with Katherine Harris, taken at a neighborhood coffee for Ms. Harris' Congressional Campaign. Julie is very active in helping to get, and keep, the Republican candidates in office.

The above was taken from our Spotlight on Julie on July 2, 2002. She has worked so very hard on both Ms. Harris' and Jeb Bush' campaigns, and oh, how sweet the rewards. This morning some of us received an email from Julie, and it was so special I asked her if I could share it here with all of FR. She said yes, and how sweet it us, Friends:
Dear Family & Friends:
As you probably know I'm a Republican who would 'walk over glass' to vote. Well, I've got sore feet today, not from glass but from fire ant bites.
Those nasty stingers got me yesterday when I stood with other dedicated GOP volunteers at the busiest intersections in Sarasota waving signs for JEB and Katherine Harris.
How sweet it is......Clinton, Gore & McAuliffe targeted Florida to defeat JEB and Katherine.....they lost and we won.....big time. Our President put his reputation on the line and campaigned hard for our candidates.....Americans responded by giving him the opportunity to break through the Daschle Senate stonewall!!
Last night we attended the victory party for Katherine Harris at the Sarasota Hyatt. As the evening unfolded...the good news just kept coming from everywhere. All the grassroots 'get out the vote' efforts certainly produced the results we were all hoping for!!!!
I had the chance to tell Katherine Harris: 'Two years ago the Democrats tried to destroy you for following the law. Tonight we sent them a message by sending you to Congress!' She gave me a bear hug and kiss on the cheek and tears filled her eyes!
Then I asked for her autograph on my sign....the one I was waving when those pesky fire ants got me! The sores & swelling will go away in a few days.....but I'll always have that permanent momento of our decisive victory!
Clintonism is dead! Praise be to God!
Viva DUBYA!
Viva JEB!
Viva KATHERINE!
How sweet it is!!!
~Julie

     3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
     4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.

We had the 'newfangled' electronic touch screen machines for the 2000 Election, and, of course, for yesterday's.
Ours all are in curtained booths for absolute privacy, the worker stepping away, and cannot see what you select.

Wonderful large print machine with the Democrat candidates on the FAR LEFT - wide space with the Republican List on the - um - RIGHT!!
LOL
At the top of each was a single bar to press to vote straight party.

There were two state constitutional issues with a simple Yes or No choice, and at the very bottom, the green bar that said "VOTE" to press to finish.

The only wrinkle of which I heard was an elderly couple who tried to vote, but they were not currently registered, presenting an ancient card.

Asked politely for their address and identification, they had none of the latter - did not live anywhere in the county - and refused to give their address.
"I don't want to tell you," the man said!

Suspect they were warm bodies imported by the Dems, and they were politely refused.
Referred to the county courthouse a half mile down the road to register and return!

I'm jumping up and down for joy! Could not STAND it until I knew we had taken back the Senate!!!!

P.S. Thanks for being so gracious about my "faux pas" yesterday!:^) Your response was even more gracious!

LOL! I bet that more than one of us has posted a reply on a thread when we meant to write a private mail. Yours was a bit unique though! LOL! Not a problem.....in fact, probably a good thing. :)

Good grief - that's funny.

I still say let Visa or Mastercard handle the elections - those folks know how to identify people and deal with numbers larger than those of their fingers and toes.

Hi Aqua-love those fireworks and you Georgians did great.....Thank you, thank you, thank you. I missed W by a few hours on Sat. in GA but there was so much excitement about him coming to visit and Laura was there also. I am sure there visits helped ever so much.

Hi LadyX-love your posts, as always, and the Carolinas did great too. I love that Clinton's rich buddy got beat by Elizabeth (you can call me Liddy, everyone else does) Dole. Great debate....

I went to bed knowing that we won the House and expecting to lose the Senate but at least gain a few seats. Imagine my surprise when I woke up to FOX News' announcement that we also took the Senate.....Oh happy day!

FR is running extremely slow for me, and I am running extremely far behind, so please forgive me for writing all of you at once.

Daisy, you cannot know how happy I am to see you back!

Hi, Aeronaut - glad you brought out the big 'uns to celebrate today!

Isn't it exciting! I just can hardly keep from shouting, and gloating, and beaming! What a wonderful President we have!

LadyX, Suzi, jw, Mixer - hey, I love you all! I'm giddy today. :)

Comment #11 was removed because I meant to post it to Julie and posted it to myself instead. It was not a disruptor! LOL!
