Johnson just cut Thune's lead to less than a thousand!!
To: The Person
By my estimation, Johnson has a +2 net advantage over Thune on precincts yet to be counted. This does not include the 31 precincts from the two counties that have no reported results yet.

I predicted the stock market would go up 1000 points if we won. Maybe not that much but maybe 200.

I just saw a video clip online of Lindsey Graham's victory speech. Among other things, he said a very wise thing, "There's no excuses". Now that Republicans (God-willing) are in control, there's no excuses. And he's right. We cannot afford to screw this up. Republicans can't gloat (Rush Limbaugh made a good point about 1994, that the class of 1994 got a little arrogant and thought the whole country had gone conservative, when it hadn't) and Republicans and Pres. Bush have to be smart and pragmatic about this, or else we'll have it all snatched away from us.
Alex Sanders came to the Republican Victory Night headquarters along with his wife and congratulated Graham in person. (During his own concession speech Sanders said Graham was a "fine gentleman".) Graham said they were both very gracious and he said several times that Mr. and Mrs. Sanders were "good people" and "fine people", etc. He also said he was going to thank the most important person responsible, the Good Lord. He said after he'd calmed down, the first thing he was gonna do was get down on his knees and thank the Good Lord.
I like to see gracious winners and gracious losers.
In the Maryland governor's race, I saw where Katherine Kennedy Townsend made a grownup concession speech...some of her crowd was angry and she basically shushed them up and gave a non-bitter, professional concession speech that you would expect from somebody whose whole family is in politics.
My husband told me there were a couple of bitter, crybaby concession speeches on the part of a couple of Dems, but I didn't see them and didn't get a chance to ask who they were (he had to go to bed, to get up early tomorrow.)

Breau, Miller and the rest of the gang of 7 more or less will give Bush the votes he need to shut up Foghorn Leghorn.

Oh, forgive me for not congratulating you on your son. I believe he will be a fine Conservative. :)

Shannon is an indian reservation. Johnson wins

A surprisingly bad night for Republicans in Tennessee. We maintain the Senate seat (currently Republican - stays Republican), lose the Governor's seat (currently Republican) to the Dems and lose one Congressional seat (currently Republican) to the Dems. Sad night. Exactly the same thing is happening in NM if (as seems likely) Heather Wilson loses.

What a beautiful prayer! You and I, and SO many others prayed together tonight... not for power, not for status, but for justice. What an awesome moment when, on my knees, I realized that thousands were praying with me. God answered our prayer. Now we must answer Him...

MSNBC reporting that Daschle's county is holding back votes, and they're just starting to come in.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
That's a little tiny bit better than the -30 historical average in an off-year election I had heard of the 30 house seats many times. Today for the first time I heard that there was an average of eight (8) !!! lost Senate seats, too. What a day for President Bush!!! Can you say HISTORIC!!!... (Thank-you Lord.)
To: motzman
I'm sure God appreciated that prayer!

"Get out the drill, boys!
"We're going to ANWAR!"
LOLOL!
To: alaskanfan
On SD, MSNBC just said the reservations haven't come in yet and half of Daschle's home county is still out (what a coincidence!!!).

Is Thune gonna hold on? His lead is now under 1000
