A long ready, but it covers about every point dealing with the right to self defense. Thanks for posting it.

English policy makers would do well to consider a return to these crucial common law values, which stood them so well in the past. Fat chance. By their actions Britains policy makers have proven themselves to be at best common criminals. Their actions are such that private citizens who tried to do similar things would be declared criminally insane.

Excellent post. It is the same in Australia, with a huge rise in violent home invasion robberies.
The Founding Fathers were right: "...the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
When criminals do not know who is armed or where the armed citizen is armed, it makes society safer.
Protection of self and family is a God given right.

Funny how Schumer and his gang never compare their tactics to the British model. I guess to do that would be to tip their hand a bit too early in the game.
Anyone who is stupid enough to think that the police can protect you from crime should move to a place like England. Unless we have a 1:1 ratio of police to citizens in this country it will never work. Police are reactive - you call them after the crime has happened. Everyone should be proactive in the self defense of themselves and their family. Shoot first, ask questions later.

One "beneficiary" of Britain's don't-defend-yourself politics was a young man this past week who was
crucified in Northern Ireland - then beaten with spiked clubs until his father couldn't recognize him; police say it wasn't IRA-related. Doctors doubt they can save either of his hands.
"Headline crime" abounds in no-handgun, hard-to-legally-own-a-rifle, Britain.

Thanks for the post, and I urge everyone to read her book. In it, she addresses many of the issues that she touches on in this piece, and provides a wealth of historical detail.

Excellent article!
As someone pointed out in a similar article: Criminals prey on the weak and vulnerable. And it's the brilliance of British government to ensure all are weak and vulnerable.

Most of the 'over-my-dead-body' crowd will meekly hand over their weapons when the time comes, you can count on it. It's been damn near 60 years since the big one, time we got another one going - good for the economy too! nothing like a few nukes flying around to take one's mind off such inane things as gun control. Whoops! sorry, peace and love is the way to go, I clearly forgot.

This is a good article, but it overstates and ignores some of the facts. Yes the UK is stupid not to trust armed and honest citizens, but it is the nature of that country to fear mob rule.
Specifically, I don't think that Tony Martin is quite the poster boy for self defence he has been made out to be in some cirles. Yes, the burglars deserved to be put behind bars, but some evidence points that Mr. Martin may have not been totally in a self defense mode when he shot the burglars.
